I visited Aldridge shopping centre on 30/12/2017 to do a spot of post Christmas shopping, namely all my toiletries from home bargains as it’s much cheaper than the supermarkets. It was when I was walking over to Greggs that I noticed the most amazing Christmas tree.

Now I’m lucky enough to have travelled a small portion of the globe and have seen some pretty good Christmas trees. To name a few that stick in my mind would be the hotel lobby at the $950 a night Bellagio in Vegas. That was awesome, mind you here at home, the tree in Harrods, Knightsbridge packed a punch but I think the best I ever saw was the tree in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

Well until today the tree at Disney was the best. You’ve got to come and see the Tree at Aldridge Shopping Centre cause it’s ace.
A magnificent spectacle of a 7 foot high tree with a small portion of branches missing from the back and a whole TWO pieces of tinsel wrapped around it.

This lucky tree has been decorated with the most brightest of lights. Dazzling I must add.
This is really one of a kind because it has its own unique security system.

The first 2foot of the tree is encased in a whole tonne of reinforced concrete tightly packed and encased into a strong thick steel drum to prevent theft.
Instead of painting the drum green it’s been painted red to ward off any would be thieves.
And because this is theoretically the worlds heaviest Christmas tree at 150Kg per linear foot, it has to be placed on a little wooden pallet so it can be moved only by forklift.
So, there you have it, a world record tree at Aldridge Shopping Centre. Can’t wait till next year.

Aldridge has a small but very pleasant shopping centre. Plenty of places to eat too and family friendly.
