We visited with our family of 6 including a 2yr old last Saturday (Easter Weekend)
The restaurant was very quiet and we expected, having visited before, a nice easy family meal...
Sadly this was not to be!
The wait time between courses was over 30minutes, not only did I complain to the one single bartender but upon investigating the kitchens window, many meals were ready... all under heat lamps whilst the staff jollied.
Our main meals eventually arrived.
I had chosen a fish pasta dish, have you ever tried the pasta & sauce from a packet? Just add milk?
Perhaps it was the length of time under the lamps, but this tasted remarkably similar with 4 lumps of defrosted fish thrown in with 3 prawns...
My step son noted, he had never had a skin layering the top of a chilli before as he scraped it off.
This was the worst meal & service we have ever known at this brewers fayre!
Needless to say we didn't stay for pudding!

we ate here whilst staying at the adjoining Premier inn. The evening meal was awful with reheated chips and poor quality food. Needless to say during our 2 night stay after the first night we decided not to eat here again.
The bar area was cold as the air con was constantly blowing cold air out.
Tables in the bar weren't cleared and and were littered with previously used glasses and crisp packets. The young girl serving in the bar was really unpleasant and came across as if she really did not want to be there and everything was a real effort.
Breakfast service diabolical. Empty hotplates waiting to be refilled and a shortage of clean plates both large and small as well as no cups for tea and coffee and one of the staff members was actually very rude on our second morning .

Two course evening meal for three people from the main menu with drinks from the bar was just short over £50.
Food was excellent, service great, cleanliness very good but portions are small.

Seen many complaints about the Rising Sun and I believe some to be rather harsh. With that being said yes we’ve had good meals and we’ve also had bad you can go anywhere and pay a lot more and get a whole lot less. I’ve always enjoyed the laid back atmosphere within the restaurant which is great when meeting up with friends and family especially when children are part of the group. I’ve been to the Rising Sun for breakfast lunch and dinner and I like the no frills aspect of the menu there’s plenty to choose from. I must admit the 2 meals for £8.99 is great and a firm favourite of ours. What makes our visits even better are polite conscientious staff, one of which needs a mention and that is Tyler, not only is he hard working but he will always do his very best for you 100% of the time And that makes a huge difference. Thank you Tyler!!!

We stayed at the Premier Inn prior to going to watch a Bill Bailey at the Colleseum, and went into this pub for a drink during the afternoon. Now, I don’t normally write bad reviews, but I am making an exception with this place in the hope that management do something about it. What was wrong? The young barmaid clearly wished she was somewhere else and didn’t make us feel welcome, most of the beers and lagers were unavailable- yep, all had ran out. Tables were littered with empties and food plates. The television was blaring. A young guy started and cleared the tables, which was better. When asked why there was no beer, he replied that they are expecting a delivery. Truly awful and won’t ever be back.
