We had two bookings in the restuarant for large family groups. Both times the service was quite slow and they were ill prepared. Some of the food was poorly presented and verging on cold, both possibly due to the numbers. Pretty average meal and price. Nothing special or to write home about.

We arrive at lunch time and one member of staff tried to find a table for ythe 4 of us( there were a number of unoccupied tables then a another member told the person who was dealing with us to" tell them we do not have any tables, there are only the 2 of us on and we cannot cope"!! We took the hint and left and had a very enjoyable lunch nearby

Hi TheRabble,

I would like to extend my apologies on this occasion regarding lunch yesterday. There was an operational issue that left my team short yesterday very short notice. It wouldn’t have been a case about filling tables it would have been more of a case that the experience itself would have been slow. You should have been given the option however these is a very rare this happens and I assure you it was a one off. Once again my sincerest apologies, please don’t hesitate to call me on 01908679489 and can discuss further

Kind regards

Daniel Marshall

Visted for my brothers 50th booked a tabke for 14 of us.
Food was of a good standard it was very busy so the service was a little slow so could have been a little better. Cost was good value.
All in all worth a visit we would definitely return.

This was our second visit; we have eaten here with a friend who lives ten minutes walk away but this time we visited alone. It's a lovely pub/restaurant in a beautiful setting with plenty of parking and a lovely garden, which must be very pleasant in the summer months.

This is a very old building which is full of old world charm, however along with that comes some drafty nooks and crannies; we sat by some french doors which were rotting away at the bottom and letting in the cold night air!

This was a busy Saturday night at peak time (you do need to book) but the service was swift and friendly. I had the Sea bass and Seared Scallops on a prawn, pea and chive risotto; it was lovely and not too large a portion so I had room for dessert. My husband chose the Brewer's Chicken which he was less enamored with; he said it was fairly average and the chips were disappointing as they didn't taste or look triple-cooked as described on the menu. For dessert he chose the Apple and Blackberry crumble pie which he again described as average whereas the Chocolate and Coconut Milk Torte I ordered was very good! Our experience this time matched our last visit; all the food is tasty but it does depend on what you order as to whether you get a really good dish or an average one, having said that it wouldn't put us off visiting again.
