We stopped for two nights with a touring caravan, the toilets were very bad, dead flies all around the food preperation/dish washing up area, cob webs, the urinals were filthy, the shower heads hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We went to the on site cafe amd sat outside, almost all the tables were alive with ants because of not being cleaned, there was bird muck on them and spilt drinks, also on the floor beneath the tables was spilt drinks that needed scrubbing and then there would be no food for the ants. The inside of the cafe appeared to be clean. I would say the need to update all the facilities on side, maybe get a heath inspector to have a look around. I thinks the childens area's looked as if they were being enjoyed by the children.
Planned a stop off here to give our grandchildren a break from travel.
The high spot was the café with friendly staff and good snacks - sandwiches, soup etc.
From there it went downhill. The toilets were disgusting, no ventilation, no soap - in fact one dispenser missing. The park was packed so must be popular but the behaviour of some children playing on kit intended for the young ones was the final straw. And the map was worse than useless for following tracks. Avoid!
Crowded, litter everywhere, bins over flowing, uneven paths, absolutely disgusting toilets. Inspected regularly apparently - have they not noticed all the cubicles have broken locks or the faeces on the floor?
Shocking place now when it used to be so nice.
We used to be regular visitors but unsure if we’ll visit again.
lovely park, good to walk round, could use my disabled scooter with no problem, fishermen all friendly, lovely cafe with brilliant soup
We camped here last Saturday.
It started well as our arrival we were given an information pack and clear directions to our pitch.
We arrived at our pitch and someone had parked their car on it, so we pitched nearby.
Whilst the park itself is lovely it is let down by:
1) The toilet block - which isn't very clean.
2) Lack of staff after 5pm - there is no one to ask fellow campers to turn down their music and be respectful to others.
3) Some of the play equipment being run down.
Me and my two young children couldn't get to sleep because the people next door were playing pounding music. I asked them to turn it down, which they did a little - but you could still hear it clearly.
I sent an email complaining to the campsite staff and in the morning they came round.
I was told that there were no staff after 5pm - so they basically take the money (£23.40 for one night for a tent no electric hook-up) and 'run'.
I was also told they were going to put up a sign but that the printer had broken down.
Good luck if you decide to camp here - you are left to fend for yourself basically... if fellow campers down abide by the rules then tough - you don't sleep.
I love camping and this was the first proper camping experience for my young son, but we won't be coming back to Emberton (overnight at least).... we'll try somewhere else.
Visited for the first time with my wife,to start with the parking charge of £4.00 was more than reasonable.
Before we started our walk we had a coffee in the Grounds Cafe which was nothing fancy but served our needs.
The toilet blocks could do with some maintenance time spent on them.
The pathways made walking very easy.
A down side was the amount of litter but that says more about the visitors than the management of the park.
A few visual wardens may cut out the use of open fires and ground barbecues.
The park it self was wonderful acres of open parkland with beautiful lakes dotted around, even the noise of the road did not detract from its beauty.
From the park we had easy access to the town of Olney, well worth a visit.
The one bird hide we visited could do with a bit of TLC.
Overall a super day out and will make many return visits.
