Don’t be put off from the exterior, I’ve driven past loads of times and never been in until now....
We had seen a couple of posts on Facebook saying how good the Duck was, and decided to check it out.
The Building is old, a bit ramshackled, and the car park potholed, but from the moment the door was opened for us our experience was totally positive.
The staff and the service given was excellent, and the food was Top Quality.
For starters we opted for a baked Camembert to share, which at £8 was very reasonably priced.
Mains we had a mixed grill and a ribeye steak, both were superb. The mixed grill in particular was of a particularly high standard, a few pubs in the area charge around the £17 mark, so at £21, I was expecting something better, and oh boy I wasn’t disappointed, the meat is locally sourced, succulent and tasty.
The chips are to die for...
There was a dessert blackboard full of homemade desserts with just one that was “bought in”.
All in all a great experience.

Another great family party at The Duck. Fourteen sitting down to eat having ordered in advance to ensure we are all served at the same time. As always the quality of the food, and the cooking skills, make for an enjoyable evening.
Don't be put off by the decor, it may be simple but it doesn't affect the quality of the experience.

This pub has a lovely varied menu, including a good vegetarian section. All four of us had a different meal, which only took around half an hour to reach us, which is great considering it was cooked there and then from scratch. The meals were delicious, and a generous size as well. The service was prompt and friendly, and we shall definitely be visiting again to enjoy more of these traditionally cooked meals.

We visited The Duck on a quiet Tuesday evening. We received a warm welcome from the barman and ordered drinks and were told to pick a table to which the drinks would be brought. The menu is good pub grub. We ordered the steak and ale pie and the speciality burger.

The food when it came was certainly a generous portion, freshly cooked and nicely presented. The burger (with chorizo, pulled pork, cheese, bacon and onion ring and salad) also came with a whole corn on the cob (as well as the chips) and the pie with a bowl of nicely cooked vegetables to accompany the chips.

The meal was good, very reasonably priced. the beer was a little disappointing (local brew - a bit insipid) and the atmosphere a bit flat as the pub was quiet and we were tucked out of the way on our own. The service was friendly - we were asked how the meals were part way through and when the plates were cleared.

Had a nice Sunday lunch. Very old decor but don't let that put you off. The food itself is lovely nice choice of veggie food. My husband loves the home cooked style food. We will be back soon and keep up the good work
