Such a beautiful hotel. We came here as a group of girls coming to watch the rugby, so, we weren't too fussed about what the hotel was like as long as it was in an ideal location. However, we were shocked to be in a beautiful posh hotel. The people that worked in the hotel were extremely helpful and they couldn't do enough for us. Gorgeous rooms. The hotel had fresh water and apples in various places which was lovely to see. Thank you Stauntons on the Green.

My wife and I moved to Staunton's after a conference in another Dublin hotel. We wanted somewhere smaller, cosier, and closer to the centre.

We found the hotel had a relaxed ambiance, with the staff always friendly and helpful. It was easy to walk to the Irish National Gallery - superb, the Chester Beatty Library - excellent, and various pubs and restaurants. Our room was not large, and we worried about it being in the basement, but it turned out to be quiet and comfortable.

We stayed in the hotel for a short city vacation with the kids (4,7). The location is excellent, just a crossroad away from the park and from there to town centre. The reception is small in a familial sort of way, everyone there was always courteous and with a smile.
The room itself was very big and beautiful, the bed and linen were soft and very comfortable. the room was cleaned every day, and the only thing missing was the renewal of soaps and shampoos.
Breakfast in the hotel was very generous and tasty and the service was excellent.
Wifi is free, a bit on the slow side, but not slower than usually in hotels (even the ones you pay for it)
In short, a great hotel for a Dublin visit, definitely recommended.

We arrived at Stauntons on the Green at noon. Check in is 2pm and the front desk relayed that if we wanted to check in early it would be a 20 Euro charge. Every other hotel in Ireland gladly welcomed us if we arrived early. We were given a room on the other side of the breakfast hall and had to walk through the dining area to reach our basement accommodations. The dining hall was bustling and loud as soon as breakfast began, which was too expensive for the menu offered. Walking through the dining hall while people were eating just to get to and from the room was very awkward and a huge inconvenience. The shower/bath was incredibly high and hard to step into. A person unable to lift their legs up a foot wound not be able to access the shower. If you stretched your arms above your head in the shower you would touch the ceiling. The area is beautiful where the hotel is located and room decorations was nice but being assigned to a basement room was unsettling. Windows that are level with the ground didn’t lock and were very drafty. We won’t be returning to this hotel and glad we only had to deal with this for one night since we found better accommodations.

Dear dede076,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and for your constructive feedback.

We are very sorry to hear that Stauntons was not the ideal fit for you and your guests. We were however happy to read that you found the hotel to be in a beautiful location and to be nicely decorated.

All the windows that are level with the ground can be locked and since they are in keeping with the property they use an older mechanism. We understand not everyone is familiar with that mechanism, one of our staff members would have been more than happy to assist with this. We will be undergoing refurbishments in the coming months and the issue with the draft will be addressed by the project manager.

With regard to the check-in policy, the matter has been passed on to the general manager and it will be reviewed.

When we receive a booking with special requests, such as mobility issues, we do our best to accommodate the guests in order to insure their comfort. In the case of guests being unhappy with their room, the reception team will do their best to move them to a desired room if there is availability.

We were able to see in your booking that neither you nor your guests availed of breakfast. Our breakfast prices are on par with the city's average. In addition to the selection of hot dishes, guests can also have a selection of cereals, fruit bowls, toast with a selection of marmalade, pastries, coffee, tea or freshly squeezed orange juice. We also offer vegan and vegetarian options if the guest requests.

Should you decide to provide us with the opportunity to rectify your opinion please call or contact us directly and we will ensure you are looked after and assigned a room that is not in the basement.

Kind regards,
Guest Relations

Service, WOW (in a good way). They sent us e-mails often to assure us of our rooms. We were delayed by an entire day, 12 hours in London and when i called them to inform of that, they said NO PROBLEM and our room would be ready and he would be there to greet us at the late hour. Rooms were so quaint. They do not have an elevator (lift) so if you are on the third floor it is quite a trek every day. The rooms on 3rd foor have nicer bathrooms than ours on 1st floor. We stayed 2 nights and then went to Galway and returned 2 days later. They held our big luggage in the back for us, so awesome!!!! The breakfast was delicious, but we assumed it was included, so we ordered a lot of food, and told our co-travelers to do the same. Then, we found out it was a charge. Ooops. This hotel is within walking to so many shops, restaurants and bars (pubs). They are across from a GORGEOUS park. Also, on the corner some late nights is a food truck, be sure to get something there! Staff was so great with calling cabs, etc. Would stay there again in a heartbeat and recommend it to others. There is construction gong on right next door, but it didn't hamper our visit. The glass windows are pretty thin, which means you can hear the walking traffic at night but that again was not big deal. LOVED this hotel.

Room Tip: No elevator/lift so I would ask for a first floor room. Also first floor away from the street.

Dear Wanita C,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with us.

We were overjoyed to read that you found the hotel to be central, quaint and breakfast to be delicious. Your compliments have been forwarded to the respective departments.

Here at Stauntons we strive to always pay attention to the smal details because we understand that those can make a difference in someones stay.

You are correct, we do not have a lift because we are a 250 year building that is protected. However, one of our staff members is always there and more than happy to assist guests with any luggage.

Over the coming months, the original Georgian building will be getting a "face lift" and your concerns with regard to the bathroom and thin glass windows will be addressed by the project manager.

We hope to welcome you back in the near future and if you wish to have breakfast included you can always book with Bed and Breakfast.

Thank you for choosing Stauntons.

Kind regards,
Guest Relations
