When you visit the Jameson's distillery, make sure to volunteer to become a certified Jameson Irish Whiskey expert. The whole tour is a fascinating historical look at the magic of distilling, of Irish history and of the art of tasting. Start with a guided walk through various buildings that tell the story of grain and the valor and sweat of men who labored to perfect the methods and flavors of one of the worlds great brands. Witness the giant copper stills and marvel at the mannequins who depict life and work from 200 years ago. Although tours are not permitted in the top secret new facility, you will learn a lot and be amused with the old buildings and semi obsolete equipment. The storage facility where aging whiskey is kept is a memorable experience and the smell is incredible. Towards the tours end when the guide asks for volunteers RAISE YOUR HAND! If picked (go ahead and really really want it) you will get to taste various whiskey labels including Jack Daniels to compare with the 12 year old Jameson. There is no comparison! You can register for your certificate via email and print it out on the way home! You will feel warm and fuzzy as you exit through the gift shop where you'll be tempted to purchase the 12 year old, and many other items, before your bus ride back to the cruise port. Mbeadh Dram Dom!

This was our second visit to the distillery. Our guide was really informative and the ancient buildings lovely to tour. You will learn a lot about how Isis's whiskey is made and how it differs from bourbon and scotch. When your guide asks for volunteers to be official tasters, raise your hand!!

We recently did the tour at the brewery in Midleton. The town itself is beautiful and soo nice really worth the visit when the farmers market is on . That in itself is an attraction! The tour was €14 per adult and then took approx. 45 mins. The group was maybe 10-12 people and not cramped. We were brought to some different rooms throughout the main whse and building but felt that there was so much that we were not shown or had explained to us. We seemed to be walking past lots of displays that the guide did not make reference to or note of. She was just a young girl but very pleasant. Thought it was a little over priced for what we got.
