Owner description: Céad Míle Fáilte A Hundred Thousand Welcomes! Welcome to Cork City Walks. We look forward to meeting you on one of our friendly, informative, leisurely walks around our beautiful and charming city. We encourage interaction and banter as we seek to share with you our love of Cork, its unique history, friendly people, colourful culture and Corkonian wit and traditions. We will take you on a leisurely walk around the compact 800 year old city, where you will experience the smells and sounds of the English Market, stroll the busy lanes of the 18th century Huguenot Quarter and wonder at Burges’s magnificent French Neo-Gothic cathedral. Mindful that a healthy walk generates a good appetite, we will help you discover a variety of places to eat, drink, enjoy live music (ceol agus craic) and enjoy the best entertainment Cork has to offer during your visit. At journey’s end our wish will be that we have lived up to your expectations and that when you return home you will encourage family

We were lucky enough to spend a delightful day walking around the entire city of Cork with a brilliant guide - Bart! Bart paced to tour to our mobility needs without sacrificing a bit of this vibrant city. If you have a question he knows the answer, he'll take you to all the known and a few of the unknown places in the oldest city and true capital of Ireland. I look forward to stopping him for a cuppa on future trips! Book a walking tour with him - you'll be thanking yourself for the rest of the trip!!!

It was a "delightful day" for me also, Tiffany. The company and the 'craic' was as we say 'mighty'. Thank you most sincerely for your kindness and wonderful comments. Yes, my beloved Cork is a "vibrant city" and has been since Fionnbarra came down the Lee to establish his monastery. To be sure Cork has 'unknown places' but finding them out in good company must be the prompt to discover more about our own place. Be assured Tiffany your kind words will put a spring in my step for my next walk " on the banks of my own lovely Lee". Looking forward to that cuppa! Gach beannacht ó Bart.

I spent a really nice walking tour of Cork with Bart. He is very friendly and thanks to him I discovered some lovely places like Cork English Market, Imperial Hotel and also the Trinit Church. I met a lot of lovely Irish people in different shops where we went. I also learnt many things about the culture and history of Cork. I really recommend this guide.

I have fond memories of our walk -just the two of us if my memory serves me right! What you relate is so true. The joy is meeting the real people! In this case the real people of Cork. Wherever we walk in the world, we can meet, chat and even sing a local song. In Cork City Walks we attach a special importance to all the wonderful people we meet and get to know 'on our way'. These are the real custodians of 'culture and history'. With you we thank them for their contribution to making Cork the friendly and happy city it is. I love what you 'captured' in your piece. Go raibh maith agat. Bart

Bart was the highlight of our trip to Cork. Full of knowledge and enthusiasm and happy to take questions. We went over the allotted time in the freezing cold and he soldiered on. A beautiful soul with a beautiful a voice.
If you do one thing, make sure it's a tour with the ever helpful Bart!

Thomas, I am deeply appreciative of your kind post. 'Soldiering on' is a very apt phrase in the context of my experience of acting as a walking tour guide. From commencement partnership and trust is involved for 'both sides'. Setting out as total strangers but then putting one foot in front of the other and 'yapping away' seems to create a special bond between the participants. By journey's end all are the best of friends, having endured 'freezing cold' and listening to the person leading the way. To lead the way is a very privileged position and so often I worry about my patient and attentive followers. What are they really making of this Corkonian ramble? I'm glad we had time for a song Thomas. All trusting followers deserve a break! Your piece gives me confidence to 'soldier on'. Beir bua a chara. Bart

A Chara, thank you for your extremely kind comments. Companionship is what it's all about! Being your companion in peeling back layers of Cork's past as recorded by you is important to me and what Cork City Walks tries to do for its patrons. Knowledge and history of course but the experience must be an enjoyable and happy one. We aspire to providing a full some experience for all who have the confidence to walk with us and allow us to share our love for this wonderful 800 year old city on 'Corcach Mór na Mumhan' (Great Marsh of Munster). Míle buíochas ( a thousand thanks) to you for being "a super nice guy" in taking the time to share your positive experience of our service. Again mile buíochas. Bart
