Getting there is a bit of a journey. There is a long drive along a single track road full of potholes. The parking area at the end is very limited and then there is a 1.1 mile walk across a path through fields to the beach. The beach is nice but the white "coral" part is small perhaps 500 yards and the rest of the beach is rock. shingle and seaweed. It was a cloudy day that we visited and overcast so it was not a day to picnic on the beach. For us it really was not worth the effort to get to it and the time would be better spent on other attractions in Skye.

Beautiful sandy beach, composed of minute fossilised corral. Ideal swimming spot when water is warmer. Car parking is limited. Not really suitable for motorhomes. No service facilities.

So, I’m a plus size woman with bad ankles and if you’re like me, I’d give yourself a good hour to and from the beach. Everyone said 30 minutes, and it’s absolutely doable if you don’t have any mobility issues, but it took me much longer. That said, ITS WORTH IT. The views on the way were gorgeous. The actual beach itself was so pretty and unique. I’d never seen anything like it. I would 100% do it again.

Gentle coastal walk to a small beach a few miles north of Dunvegan Castle. The white sand (looks more like crushed sea shells than coral) and the turquoise blue water are mesmerisingly beautiful. Tripadvisors complain about the potholes and lack of space in the car park but we went in November, managed to avoid the potholes and had no problem parking...

Beware this is another popular place and it is overrated. Yes the beaches are vaguely white but they are very small and it’s a long walk to get there from the tiny car park where you risk being unable to park. The usual over the top warning signs about shooting your dog if you let it off the lead and it “bothers” some smelly sheep from the unfriendly local population. So many people it’s like a queue to the supermarket. Then inevitably it rained and we had to go back home. The beaches are not made of coral so it is misleading. A nice view and I suppose if there’s nothing else to do which is frequently the case then a trip is worthwhile.
