“worth it”

Reviewed 4 April 2018

we visited this location on a walk and tnhe day we visited it it was raining. I'm glad we made a detour to see this castle ok it could be argued that it just some ruined walls but the information boards did give it some value.
It appers however to be a bit neglicted as there is some scaffolding supporting some of the walls

Will take about 10 minutes of your time to view the castle ruins. Literally just 4 corners, and you can see where the moat once was.

You can circle the castle and go into it, access is free and open all year round. Much of castle is currently closed off. There are two informational signs. Not very interesting, and the visit over within 5-10 minutes.

It’s easy to imagine the every day running of the castle with the information panels. It was quite muddy under foot thou so watch your step in winter!

Protects a strategic position outside Fort William, now a shadow of its former self. Ruins are quite substantial still and you can visualise what it must have been like in its operational days. Worth an hour of anyone's time
