This was a really excellent experience for my wife and myself. Staff could not have been more helpful. Our room , at the top of the stairs , was " Brimside ". A large comfortable room with a most impressive en suite. Our evening meal was a triumph...crab to start and fabulous venison to follow. Portions just the correct size to allow room for desert.! We had a pre dinner drink in the bar and enjoyed a local gin "Rock Rose "...distillery is reasonable close. Our order was taken by Ann; a real character. I suspect she has been at the hotel for quite some time and , in our opinion , she greatly adds to enjoyment of stay.

Room Tip: We liked " Brimside "

The first impression of visiting an ageing aunt's house where boiled beef and carrots might be on the menu proved to be completely wrong. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with lovely walks along the river to the sea. The bedroom was huge with views out over the surrounding land, very comfortable bed and separate bathroom with large bat and separate shower. Although there were a number of stairs to get upstairs, these had wide shallow treads which made climbing very easy. Dinner was first class with a limited menu beautifully cooked and presented with a good choice of wine. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar has won awards for its whisky selection. Overall this was a very enjoyable stay.

This really was a hidden gem in the trees. The most friendly and helpful staff are an absolute credit to the hotel - biggest whisky selection I've seen in a bar for some time! Food was just superb, and it was so nice to see ingredients in the garden being grown. Beautiful setting with the most stunning walk to the back of the property (a swing looking over the river too). I will most definitely be planning my next trip here soon.

Room Tip: We had a garden room downstairs, just lovely with wonderful views over the grounds.

Olde world country house hotel but not at all stuffy. It has class and style. Staff we terrific and very friendly. Room clean and well presented - nice big bathroom. Food great and the much vaunted Forss chips (French fries) were, indeed, terrific ! Grounds are great for a pre dinner or after breakfast walk.

Thank you very much Forrs house! Splendid traditional Scottish hospitality in a nice building with good quality Scottish food!

Everyone in the party enjoyed the stay. Dinner was solid enough and the breakfast was splendid.

We will return!
