Description: The Fettykil Fox in Glenrothes is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

From the minute we arrived we were shown politeness by our waitress showed us to our table and showed us today's menu. We had 2 Wagyu beef burgers, a Hunters chicken and a Kale and sweet potato and veg pie, all were excellent and well presented on the plate. We opted for the mini desert and coffee the coffee was promptly served but sadly we waited a wee while for our deserts, they to were excellent. When ordering our coffee and desert i also ordered a pint of Belhaven Ale sadly this never arrived. This little mishap would not put us of coming back to The Fettykill Fox in the future.

Staying next door at the Holiday Inn prior to a swimming competition, food was all freshly made and very tasty, looks like a brewers fayre type of place but far from it, and from what all the locals were saying, they all seemed to be returning customers which is always a good sign. Good value for money.

It saddens me that I feel the need to write a bad review but this was such a disappointment. Upon arrival I was told that the booking system had failed and so we would need to wait for our table to be ready. Left standing in the bar area as there was no seats available, I had to ask a member of staff to find us a seat as my mum is unable to stand for long periods of time. When we were seated, we were told that 3 out of the 6 starters weren't available along with 1 out of the 5 desserts. Why didn't they add in further choices from the main menu if they hadn't prepared correctly? The service was slow due to the lack of staff (not the member of staffs fault but the managements. The waiter we did have was run off his feet!) Mothers Day is obviously one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants and unfortunately the management failed to prepare for this. Lack of choice, rock hard veg with my roast and long waits... just poor Fettykil. I wont be back in a hurry.

Booked for 3pm and eventually got dessert at 5:40. One member of party had to leave and miss out on pud.
It wasnt fair on the few staff that were on .
Surely fact everyone had to book online and pay deposit would give managers a clue as to staff levels required in kitchen and serving.
Veg was cold. The meringue pie was cold in middle. Not as good as normally is.
Wont come again on special event like mothers day, set 3 course meal for £19.95 all very well if its deliverable.

Just been to the Fettykill Fox for Mothers Day. Table booked for 3.30 under Harrop, with it emphasised that we have a young one with us. Didn't get a table for 20 minutes and when we did get a table informed items from the menue missing.Ordered remaining items then waited 45 minutes for starter and grandaughter order did not arrive with it. Hers arrived after we had finished. Main course arrived after a further 40 minute wait and then grandaughter items came later. Didn't order desert as we had been in pub 2 hours 15 minutes and grandaughter getting restless.
We have been in the pub previously on a normal day and got good servide and food, but I would suggest to other potential users, avoid on busy days, as we have encountered similar circumstances previously.
