Absolutely fantastic restaurant which is well worth a visit when in Edinburgh. The food and cocktails were delicious but what really made this place stand out was the service and atmosphere, both of which were exceptional! We were lucky enough to be seated at a window overlooking Edinburgh Castle which really added an extra special little touch to the evening. Highly recommend!

We went with a large group of my friend's family. The restaurant itself is beautifully and modernly decorated and had a good vibe and great location right next to the castle. The menu was small but looked great, but my one issue was that the vegetarian options weren't marked. I'm not sure if this is a style thing but it meant I had to read through everything and ask a couple of questions to make sure.

The service was amazing and really attentive and friendly, I can't fault them.

However I was grateful for the bread because the portions were not generous - however I know this is fine dining and one probably shouldn't expect that, I'm just not used to it.

The beetroot starter was lovely, I devoured it. However, there was only 1 vegetarian main and I didn't like the look of it (pickled artichokes hmmmm, I'm just not brave enough) so I had to go for fish, which I will eat sometimes if there is a need for it. The cod was beautifully cooked and lovely and flaky and just fell apart. The skin was crispy and just so tasty. I would definitely recommend.

I was, however, a little disappointed by the petit fours dessert. The tablet was a bit too gritty which meant it hadn't been beaten enough whilst cooking, and the brownie tasted like it had just come out of a packet - like any other brownie you buy anywhere. The shortbread and apricot fudge were lovely though.

We had a lovely experience at Cannonball the other week, it was our first time there, having been to Contini a couple of times we thought we would try Cannonball as well. Great atmosphere, and friendly staff, especially Megan, who was very attentive and made us a fantastic cocktail to have while we waited on the food coming.

We will definitely be back!!
