“overpriced, lacks flavour, dense texture, poor shelf-life”

Brought a 500 gram onion cob for £3.50. Couldn't really taste the onion, texture far too close, no flavour in crust or crumb. Loaf stale the next day. I've been a baker for over 30 years and this goes down as the worst loaf pound for pound I've ever tried. If you are charging those prices you have to do alot better. Do yourself a favour pop across the road go into Waitrose for a loaf less than half the price.

The choice of breads is mind boggling. There has to be something for everyone especially for non Scots. Everyone you talk to is delighted with the variety of the products.

Pastries expensive and disappointing. Almond croissant has no filling and Pain au chocolate has a sliver of chocolate. Should do better.

Popped in here for the first time today as we were intrigued by all the positive reviews. We purchased a small loaf of sourdough, which was a bit on the expensive side (though not totally out of place in Morningside). The bread was nice- crusty on the outside and fairly dense on the inside.

However, the chocolate bun we purchased was very dry, and the thin lick of chocolate icing added little to the bun's flavour. The brownie was very sweet, but also seemed a bit dry (definitely would not describe this as a "sticky" brownie) and also expensive.
