Happy hour “Buck a Shuck” is a great deal and a chance to taste 4 excellent types of oysters. Great selection of beer, draft and bottled to be had. Small bar as you walk in and plenty of tables for dinner as you proceed into the restaurant. I experienced a smartly decorated very clean dining room and facilities. Service was great! I did make a reservation through Open Table - recommended after 6. Our party had lobster- AWSOME! Grilled and split. You have to try WHO&SB!!!

Having already booked a fairly early dinner elsewhere but having had a very early start we found ourselves in need of a light lunch to tide us over and soak up some of the scotch we had sampled on the Whisky Experience Tour.

The White Horse Oyster and Seafood bar was conveniently situated down the Royal Mile and on the way to our hotel so we just dropped in on the off chance they would have a free table. Whilst they were almost empty when we arrived they soon filled up and we found ourselves in the middle of a full lunch service so if you really are set on dining here I would advise you to book ahead.

As the name suggests there are a number of types, dressings and styles of oyster dishes as well as full seafood sharing platters and a number of fish and shell fish mains. Several of the menu items were featured on the lunch menu at reduced price ( approx. £2-3 off the main menu price) including an excellent seafood chowder, mussels and some curious sounding crab fries. The chowder was really nice and contained smoked bacon and sweetcorn. It was served with home made bread and seaweed butter and was more than enough as a main. I also tried the tempura salt and pepper prawns and king crab legs from the sharing section of the main menu.

There is a relaxed attitude to ordering so you can mix and match several sharing plates or starters with our without a main but with prices around £12 per portion that can be an expensive way to dine. The food was fresh, really tasty and was well matched by the selection of beers and wines.

Staff were helpful and friendly and the décor very nice. I would not hesitate to recommend and if I was a local add it to my date night restaurant list.

Great menu and I wanted everything on it. Had the mussels as a main and they were wonderful. Great food, great beer, great wine and great staff.

A seafood bar and restaurant on the royal mile. We ordered the oysters natural to start and they were so good we ordered some more tempura style. We chose the lunch menu for our mains and enjoyed monkfish with fries and mussels with fries all washed down with a lovely Tempranillo.
Service was spot on and food was good value for money.

Had a lovely Monday night anniversary meal here this week. Great food and loved the corkage BYOB which saved a good amount off the bill tonight. All of the food was delicious and the service was friendly and so personable. The only negative was the incoherence between the front and back of house- we waited longer than we would have liked for the oysters (more than 15 mins) which we wanted to whet our appetite, but all of our hot/ cooked dishes came within 10 mins of ordering leaving us no time to breathe after the oysters. Strangely it took an awkward length of time for the cheese to arrive. The waitresses were lovely but perhaps not fully aware of what was going on throughout the restaurant which was a little disappointing given the restaurant was quiet and not nearly half full. The highlight was the chargrilled octopus and the Carlingford Oysters although everything we had was delicious!! A little tweaking and perhaps a little more communication between the kitchen and FOH would change this from 4 to 5 star for me. Really enjoyed it though and will definitely return!
