Just doing my monthly expenses and see that I was charged £7.09 for a toastie and a cup of tea. Didn't notice at the time, but what was I thinking? As far as I can recall the staff weren't wearing masks....

This is a charmless eaterie in the style of a work's canteen. That's fine, but pricing needs to be in accordance with the surroundings.

Called in here when up at Gretna, same as previous visit some time ago. Plain menu nothing fancy, staff very friendly and the place very clean. Decent disabled access. Tables cleared very quickly and service generally was pretty quick to. Prices so so depending what you have

Always enjoy a visit here as the coffee and food is excellent, and the staff are very friendly. Not such a big selection of cakes today, but it was very busy.

Called in at Gretna Gateway today. Decided to have some soup and a coffee. 'This looks OK' we say. But how disappointed we were.
Asked for a couple of bowls of the Leek & Potato soup. Seemed strange to be told that there was a 10 minute wait. Very strange we thought but OK we will have Tea and Coffee before the soup.
As we order we find that the Leek & Potato had all gone and was replaced by Wild Mushroom. At this point we thought we would change our order to the Tea and Coffee and a couple of plain scones.
Tea and Coffee was fine but the scones were really dry and served with a couple of foil wrapped butter and a plastic pot of jam. They were not enjoyable.
However, we sat a watched / observed what was going on. The cartons of Wild Mushroom Soup were being opened and tipped into the soup urn. Nothing homemade about the soup.
Staff wore blue plastic gloves. OK, seen this before when handling food. The only issue was that they kept the same gloves on whilst doing everything else. Clearing tables, wiping up, handling table number / signs, handling all of the cooking devices, everything. Not good hygiene in our view.
Suffice to say, we were very disappointed and will not be returning.
Sorry guys but standards need to improve.
