We booked in advance for a meal to celebrate our daughter's graduation. Very helpful on the phone, offering to call back regarding eating mid-afternoon, as we were undecided about our plans. Staff friendly and helpful during our meal, without fussing or interrupting. Beautiful food, tasty and well presented. Portions just right, not too big or small. Moules et frites went down well with the new graduate; salmon, cod and fish and chips all delicious as well. As was the mushroom risotto - full of flavour. Pana cotta to follow was perfect, balanced with gorgeous red fruits in jelly. The cheese board required some extra crackers, but that was quickly fixed! We have eaten here before and will do so again. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.

We had a lovely meal between events at book festival,they kindly fitted us in and food service and atmosphere excellent good value and well worth a visit

Wife and myself were lucky enough to dine here while visiting the area, What a find, food and service were second to none....will make a detour to visit again thats for sure...

After a pleasant luncheon sandwich following our exploration of Melrose Abbey, we decided to return to Marmion's for dinner. Our B&B, Dunfermline House, was just next door so the location was perfect. My choice of pork cutlets in wine sauce with caramelized onions, mushrooms and potatoes was fabulous, so tender and a perfectly-sized portion. The presentation was elegant. I can honestly say it was the best meal I experienced in the UK.

The atmosphere is lovely, lots of wood, flowers on tables and easy listening music. The host was welcoming and friendly. This restaurant is a real gem and I would return in a heartbeat if I were ever to find myself in Melrose again.
