Description: Boston Tea Party is a small family owned independent café group serving simple well-prepared food & drinks made with great ingredients, skill and love. Ethically sourced, affordable, feel-good & excellent quality - made from scratch onsite everyday by people who care about what they do. BTP Salisbury opened in one of Salisbury’s most historic buildings, the Old George Inn which dates back to 1314. It would be hard to overstate the historical significance & pedigree of this Grade 1 listed building. William Shakespeare is believed to have performed one of his plays in its courtyard, Oliver Cromwell slept here on his way to join the army, Samuel Pepys wrote about the Inn in his diary after a stay & both H G Wells & Charles Dickens made mentioned of it in their writings.

Just like any other BTP, it's vibrant and the staff as really, really friendly but it always seems a bit short staffed. Tables wait ages to be cleared and food service tends to be quite slow.

The food here is good, portions aren't crazy huge and the food is always tasty, no matter what you order. We haven't tried lunch here because it doesn't really feel like a lunch venue, breakfast, meetings and brunch we've done here a few times.

And the coffee is delicious!

Went for breakfast with 6 work friends before a training day, ordered at 8am, food did not arrive until 8:45, we were not told there was a wait for food. Unacceptable considering we were basically the only people in the restaurant. To make it worse the food was cold, not even luke warm. The waitress was also very rude when delivering our food - rolling her eyes because we ordered two avocados on toast and she didn’t specify which one it was she had brought over, one was with bacon and one with salmon. Unnecessary to be rude considering the food was late and cold. I won’t be visiting again. Extremely dissapointing.

We stopped by Salisbury for a day trip and after visiting the cathedral we came into town for lunch. Decided to try this establishment as we fancy some pancakes. Located in the old building with a homely atmosphere after placing our orders we took a walk up to the 2nd level. Managed to get a table with couches and before we got comfy the drinks and food arrived. Very friendly and attentive service staff willing to please the customers. Food was fantastic and filling. The next few days we stopped by a few other Boston Tea Party restaurant for our meals.

popped in for an early lunch. I ordered super salad with mango. The mango was obviously so old it tasted fermented and the salad was very oily. Waiters appeared upstairs carrying trays and wandered about looking around for anyone who looked as if they were waiting for an order. Some of them were particularly gormless looking.
A notice downstairs says 'this is how it works'. 'Choose your food, order at the counter and they will give you a table number.' This is obviously how it doesnt work. once you have paid for your food how do you then know whether there is a table free for your party unless you have been upstairs and chosen the table beforehand? We chose our table, went downstairs to choose and pay for food which then, after some time, eventually found its way to our table although we had to call out to the wandering waiter that what he had on his tray was meant for our table. A strange experience altogether especially with rotten old mango.
The place has a nice atmosphere though and is a 'bit different'.

I am a very frequent user of Boston and I can say ever since Maddie took over in the bakery the standards have risen considerably. Tried the Bakewell for the first time today and I can safely say it won't be the last. My son who is also a bit fussy when it comes to anything absolutely wolfed it down. Top marks

Hi Graham G

You're right, our cakes ARE amazing. Maddie is absolutely fantastic, the only down side we have is having to constantly quality control almost everything! Poor us... ;)

Hope to see you soon

Thanks

Ed
