We used to be regulars here but twe had a couple of really dodgy services here for family meals. Today my sister had booked me a birthday lunch, everything started off well, plenty of room in the carpark. Nicely spaced our tables outside In the gorgeous garden and inside. Clear signage re social distancing and masks. We were shown to our table within 30 secs, then we were left for 15/20 mins by the first manager. We managed to flag someone down as I needed the allergy menu, then another 10 mins later managed to flag down another manager to explain the main menu allergy sections were missing. After they found another menu after another 15 mins managed to flag down another manager 1who turned out to be an absolute angel called Sharon. Even though she was run literally off her feet and seemed to be covering most of the tables, she took great care of us. We had to understandably wait a little bit between courses but Sharon's amazing attitude in spite of how busy she was soothed us. We had the Korean BBQ chicken, strips of chicken breast lightly coated in batter and fried. Served in a dish with the warm sauce. Really lovely. We also had king prawn cocktail, nice big prawns, sauce and lettuce...again very nice.
For mains we had fillet steak with the surf and turf option, the steak was a little chewy in places but overall everything was really well cooked and flavourful. A particular surprise was the breaded scallops in the surf...delicious. my nephew had a burger which again was great quality and my sister had sea bass with a salad again a great dish.
Due to the time we'd been in there we decided to take our desserts home...yes that's right it was my bday and ill eat dessert if I want t1o.
The food has really improved since the last time I ate here, instead of feeling like a cheap chain pub it tasted great. The decor has also had a touch up so a very good meal, some delays but when considering its Bank Holiday and seemingly just Sharon working (despite the other manager finding time to eat and stand around alottle bit)
The nut allergy was dealt with well in the end, Sharon again provided great care with my food. Would definitely recommend Garden House again now that things have changed.
