Wanted to grab a quick lunch before catching a train. My burrito was packed with tasty ingredients and I could hardly lift it, good value too. Cant wait to return and give the fish tacos a try, they took 15 minutes to cook and simply didn't have the time to spare, shows they are cooked to order though!

So we were pleased with the food here on two visits, one to each of the stores. I had the butternut squash and halloumi quesadillas. The first time it was packed with halloumi and very spicey. The second time I for the exact same, not a bit of halloumi and no spice at all. Still a nice dish but a little let down that that wasn’t quite the same. Husband had a burrito and said it was very tasty. Service was much better in the Ridley place store. In the Grainger street store the woman was quite rude repeatedly asking what my husband wanted in his burrito despite having answered several times, then rolling her eyes. We will probably visit again, but it is quite pricey.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to review both of Newcastle City Centre restaurants, we are always delighted to receive constructive feedback from our customers and use it to help us further develop our service and offering.

Our food is the one of the cornerstones of our business. We produce all of the elements you will find in our hot and cold counters on site daily using the freshest ingredients available. The specific 'filling' you enjoyed, our Butternut Squash and Halloumi, consists of three distinct elements; diced butternut squash oven roasted with chick peas and a blend of herbs and spices, Chargriled Cypriot Halloumi, and our own recipe sweet and spicy sauce. The three elements in the correct ratio produce a delicious, well balanced flavour.

We do find using fresh ingredients does create some variation in taste however certainly not the extremes that you experienced during your visit to our Grainger Street unit; I believe the source of this lies in the way that we serve and portion our fillings. Initially the three elements are brought together and heated in a wok using a specific ratio. In this instance I would assume that there has been some human error and the guideline ratio has not been followed correctly. Secondly, we portion our fillings using a spoodle; if your server has not identified the lack of Halloumi in your full spoodle and rectified it, this will have exacerbated the pre-existing consistency issue. For this I must apologise.

We conduct regular refresher training sessions with both our Chefs and Servers in the hope that we can remove as much 'human error' from processes like the one described above. Alas, on rare occasions something does slip through the cracks.

In regards to your feedback on the servers at our Grainger Street unit, we do find that the volume of background noise server-side of the counter can be an issue however any 'eye-rolling' is completely unacceptable on our part and again for that I offer my apologies.

Our current pricing structure remains as it has been in the world of Mexican casual dining: cheaper than both our local and national competitors (a large burrito and a beer for under £10 is a frequent positive remark we receive from our customer base).

If you would like to drop us an email to info@zapatistaburrito.com we would love to make a mends and very much look forward to you visiting either of our location in the future.

Kind Regards

Visited today and got a shredded chicken Buritto with lime rice, spicy beans and medium salsa, everything was fresh and tasted lovely, simple but effective Mexican food! Definitely be back

Not only are you guaranteed a superb burrito but you'll get friendly service, a cold beer and a nice spot in central Newcastle to sit and chill. The choices for fillings are excellent, with help on hand to get yours right, and anyone daft enough to spill theirs might just find staff willing and helpful enough to offer a replacement (not that I would do such a thing, obvs)
