The Life Science Centre, or the Centre for Life as it is better known, is a great place to visit at the best of times, but especially on a wet weather day. We visited with our four and nine year old and they both loved it. The best parts were the 4D ride and the dinosaur display with the animated models. There is also a great play area upstairs for under sevens that kept our son occupied. This was great because there are age and height restrictions on some of the activities.

What I also thought was great about the centre was that the cafe is reasonably priced with ample seating. There is also an indoor picnic area with lots of seating downstairs in order to help keep the cost of the day out affordable. This would also be great for children with special dietary requirements.

We found a four hour stay sufficient because our kids got tired due to the interactive nature of the exhibits and the general hustle and bustle. We probably covered half of the things to do in this time.

Overall, a great day out, especially when the rain sets in.

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind words.

I'm glad to hear that both of your children enjoyed their visit, our Dino Jaws exhibition has proved to be very popular! If you plan on visiting us again soon, our new exhibition 'Robots - then & now' will be starting on the 26th May so there will be lots more for you to see and do.

Many thanks again.

Where to take the grandchildren (6&8) and parents on a soggy miserable Easter Saturday?
The Centre for Life as it is better known turned out to be a great choice for all .
Arriving at the wrong time ( later morning) the queue was nearly out of the door so we headed for the cafe for an early lunch. It is basic fare but satisfied everyone.
On returning to the entrance there was no longer a queue.

There is plenty to do once inside.Firstly,we booked a slot for the kids and an adult for the chocolate making workshop .Then the Brain zone was fascinating with interactive exhibits that kept us all interested for probably a bit too long. The Dino exhibit was good with plenty of explanations even for though the younger ones were already well versed in things prehistoric.
The 4d motion ride was short but exhilarating.
We missed the the planetarium and the secret world of gases but that is for another time.
After nearly 4 hours the kids were tiring but they thoroughly enjoyed the visit ( and the freedom to go from one exhibit to another without too much bother.
Overall £34 for a family ticket and £10 for seniors was good value.
Parking is available about 300 yards away in a multi storey @£4 all day weekend rate ( Times Sq CP) but good access by public transport too (Metro, bus and mainline rail).

The silence centre was good over all, the price to get in for a student was £10 which I didn’t think was too bad because it included all the shows and access to the 4D ride. It’s is on 2 floors and there’s a lot more to do for the younger kids. I would recommend it
