This hotel is really top notch in a great historical city. Of course the exterior facade fits the Georgian style and the inner spaces, while nicely modern reflect back on the heart of the city. Modern luxury seeps through every element of the hotel. First rate staff. Outstanding rooms. Great bar and eateries. But the spa - oh the spa. It is visually and sensually beyond compare.

Just back from our second stay at the Gainsborough. Once again Brian, the manager, and the team ensured we were well looked after, going the extra mile and making us feel right at home. Celebrating the anniversary of our engagement and my fiancées 30th Birthday, the Gainsborough created the perfect setting for celebrations in the beautiful city of Bath. We topped the weekend off with Afternoon tea, which again was stunning. We simply cannot fault the this place, we will be back again very soon!!

Second visit after travelling from Melbourne and staff just amazing. Busy Easter Friday and everyone under pressure but nothing was too much trouble. From an umbrella at the ready to a personally written welcome card, this really is as like getting home after a long day. Rooms exceptionally comfortable, clean and most importantly- warm!
Second visit and it didn’t disappoint.
Only improvement - maybe make the afternoon tea a little more flexible. 2.45pm and ‘no scones for you’ until 3pm was the Seinfeldesque moment. Disappointed I couldn’t take my son into the spa, but staff really made an effort with him and would certainly head back when in Bath again. Highly recommend when travelling.

Never stayed in a hotel where the staff have been as chatty and welcoming! There was nothing too much for them and gave great advise for the city! Would definitely recommend! Seen bad reviews on the spa availability- this is all clearly stated on website when you can use the spa facilities so unfair to review badly!

This was our second stay at The Gainsborough and I really can’t find any reason not to give them 5 stars.
The balanced service is excellent and that makes it a pleasure staying here.
If you are considering it I would definitely recommend.
