Nice breakfast for a hotel buffet and dinner was surprisingly nice, well cooked beef and lovely sides. Staff friendly and professional.

We've stayed at the oxford spires several times, as the location for visiting oxford is excellent. This was our first visit following its takeover by De Vere and the introduction of parking charges, which were easy enough to pay as they were added to our final bill. We had a two night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. The dinner menu had a good choice of dishes and each one that we chose was delicious and well presented. The restaurant was busy and we had a wait between each course. However, we were quite happy to pause and feel unhurried. The breakfast buffet was extensive with the usual problems of a hot buffet - if you arrive at the wrong time, the food has been standing for a while and is overcooked and dry. But this can be avoided if you time your visit carefully.
Our room was on the first floor, overlooking a field of horses. It was a good size with a comfortable bed and sitting area with two armchairs and a side table. It was obviously not one of the refurbished rooms, as the decor was a bit tired and the bathroom needed updating- the bath needed to be replaced or re enamelled and the bathroom is large enough for a separate shower cubicle, rather than the current overhead shower.
None of these little inconveniences spoiled our stay as the staff we encountered were all super- courteous, efficient, helpful- which is what made the stay so enjoyable.

Very enjoyable lunch, but this was spoilt by a £8 for 4 hours parking charge. This was non returnable. I will not visit the hotel again or recommend it to others until the non returnable parking fee is removed.

On a recent visit to the UK my wife and I took the opportunity to spend a couple of nights at the Oxford Spires hotel as a part of a “luxury escape package including breakfast and dinner for 1 night.
The food was great and the variety of food offered at breakfast was perfectly acceptable .
The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable with a wonderful view over adjoining parkland with ducks, deer and other wildlife .
All the staff were cooperative and friendly.
Despite the large adjoining grounds and car park they still charge for parking however.
It’s about 20 minutes walk into the lovely city of Oxford but we had s car so this was not a problem for us.
We visited Blenheim Palace which is only a few miles away.
There is a fitness club attached to the hotel and guests are given complimentary entrance if desired. the gym was well equipped and the swimming pool was well frequented .
Our visit was most enjoyable and we heartily recommend this hotel.

We attended the Hotel for an annual function and we were made to feel welcome, room was clean, bathroom could do with a little tidy up!! the breakfast was great. All the staff we met were very helpful and polite.
Just the one "gripe" when we arrived we were confronted by notifications in the car park that charges now apply and this was not indicated on our booking confirmation, after a small moan we were informed that on this occasion we would not be charged, just a warning it adds to the overall cost.
