Haydon Bridge Fish And Chip Shop

Haydon Bridge is easy to miss since it was bypassed some years ago. Down by the river remains a good stop for a break if you are needing one on the Carlisle to Newcastle journey.

The village chip shop is tidy with decent opening hours. The exceptions being Sunday and Tuesday.

Not a massive choice of dishes but what they have, they do well. Fish and Chips are excellent quality with generous portion sizes. The low prices may also surprise those who are used to flashier establishments in the larger towns and cities.

One important factor : You can put your own salt and vinegar on, plus free napkin and fork. What more do you want......

Only a limited sit in option but on a nice day you can take your lunch or supper down by the river

The couple were so friendly and the fish was freshly battered and cooked, very tasty! Reasonable price too.

After travelling from Cumbria we stopped for a rest & food in Haltwhistle.
The fish and chips were freshly cooked after we ordered. The chips were good & an enormous portion, but the batter on the fish had a strange flavour unlike any I've ever tasted. It was edible but not really very nice, so I ended up removing the fish altogether from the batter.
The fish alone tasted fine. The shop is very clean, and staff friendly.
Haltwhistle's fish & chips taste better.

Travelled from Carlisle to sample the fish and chips after a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed, absolutely delicious, top notch. Well worth the journey. Highly recommend!

This chip shop has been our local for years. All our kids & grandkids crave for Harry's chips. You always get loads & the fish are always huge!

It's a normal, traditional chip shop with a chip shop menu. No pizzas, kebabs, Chinese food on offer here!
