I've been to York a few times and the shops down the Shambles don't seem as quaint as I recall from a few years back however it's still a must for siteseeing

With cobbled streets and every building having unusual stories attached to them makes this a must on your visit to York.

Some shops were brilliant examples of British independent shops however there were a few too many Harry Potter shops

A charming un-spoilt street full of character, which is a must to see if you are visiting York. The market is close by with plenty of other interesting places to see close by.

This is a lovely part of York to wander round and soak up the atmosphere and look at all the shops. However, it does get really busy, so go early and possibly not a Saturday. We went Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Saturday was the busiest, there was even a queue into one of the Harry Potter shops! There are some lovely shops and cafes to go in, plus a market to look round. There are lots of alleyways to investigate also. Make sure you go to the Hat Shop (just out of the Shambles area), which is great.

Thank Trish B
