Great beach - wide, clean, peaceful and calm (when the tide is out anyway !). A lovely place to... read more
Haven’t been to Whitby for about 10 years…absolutely spotlessly clean. The approach to the beach whilst busy has plenty to offer. There are so many more bins & credit to the council litter pickers, nothing left or too much trouble. There also seemed to be less hassle from the seagulls too!
Beach was great & dog friendly. Great stay & a great day
Stunning. Clean and so beautiful. We walked for miles and marvelled at the changing geology. We found some fossils too which was an absolute bonus
Went at high tide today, in fact bang on high tide. There was a small amount of beach still accessible which the dogs loved running around on (please note during the summer season dogs wouldn’t be allowed in this section). As tide went out walked further along the beach towards sandsend. Nice sandy beach and although all the amenities were shut I can imagine in the summer it would be great. Looks like it will be well sign posted as to where the dogs are allowed and not allowed. Took some nice photos and the dogs loved it running up and down on the sand. Then headed into the harbour area for fish and chips. We parked at the west cliff car park which was free until 1st March 2022, in fact it looks like most parking is currently free, don’t know when this started but it was a nice gesture and probably explained why a windy cold November Sunday was a lot busier than I expected. Next visit we plan to check out the east side of whitby and the abbey.
What a beautiful clean beach with miles of sand to walk along and impressive cliff faces to admire. As you head along the beach the climb back up gets steeper but lots of paths to help you get back up to road level. The promenade is well maintained
The beach was nice, however, there is huge parking costs by a short sighted local council.
No EV infrastructure, which for a tourist town is crazy and short sighted.
The best thing when I visited, was a lovely warm sunny day, gentle breeze, and it was very quiet. Great that it was dog free also. You can get onto the beach at the harbour end, or at the far end near the wonderful coloured beach huts.
