I Like this bridge as it has lovely old-fashioned lamposts. On the south bank of the river there is a tunnel under the bridge and very often there are buskers there.

Not especially attractive, but functional, linking important parts of town, but not pretty. Views of the Thames.

I remember taking a boat trip along the Thames from Westminster to the Tower of London many years ago. The guide when we passed under Southwark Bridge described it as the least used of all the bridges connecting the south bank with the City of London. He was right. It does not connect any major thoroughfares. Northwards the road literally ends at Lower Thames Street. Southwards Southwark Bridge Road meanders towards Elephant and Castle but petering out a little short of its destination. In common with neighbouring Blackfriars Bridge too much of its roadway has recently been given over to cyclists. Its main function, so far as I am concerned, is to afford access from the City of London to the many delights of Bankside such as Tate Modern, Bankside Gallery and the recreation of Shakespeare's Globe.

This is an arch bridge across the River Thames for traffic linking Southwark and the City. Recently restored, its green and gold colour is strikingly lovely. Best views of the bridge can be seen from the river.

Probably one of the least exciting river crossings. Very drab bride close to the cannon street railway bridge.
