Description: Having earned a star within a year of opening Gauthier Soho, Alexis Gauthier is described by Zagat guide as "...one of the Best New French food destinations in London...". With an emphasis on vegetables in all dishes, Alexis provides a seasonal tasting menu with the best possible ingredients (British where possible) for omnivores and a vegetable option, as well as an A la Carte and lunch/pre-theatre option. All served in a chic Soho Townhouse where the staff really make you feel special. There are also five private dining rooms for parties of all sizes.

This small multi floor/multi room Soho/China Town town house offers some tasty food in particular the “deluxe lunch” which includes 3 glasses of wine. Service was fine but the decor!
White basic sums it up, with a camp gents toilet.
Some good cooking with tasty reduced sauces.
But on balance best left to couples or elderly gents who no longer have club access.

Thank f2s

We went for a Valentine’s meal, particularly as we are eating more vegan and the recommendations for Gauthier were very positive.

The food was well presented with some incredible flavours. Service was good and very attentive.

I was less impressed with the look and feel of the venue. The venue felt a little tired and in need of some updating. The table arrangements are also very formal and the house-like design of the venue means that there are only about 4 or 5 tables in some of the rooms and the people in our room were reduced to speaking in whispers...I understand that this happens at fine dining establishments, but usually in a larger dining area...here it felt a little...awkward.

I can see the appeal of this place, but I personally prefer a more relaxed environment.

How this restaurant doesn’t have a star is beyond me. I recently went to restaurant Marcus which is 2 stars and I would comfortably say Gauthiers was better in every aspect.

We arrived just in time for the spring tasting menu which includes a champagne aperitif and 5 courses for £45. If you want matching wines it’s £80pp. Please tell me where you can find food and wine of this standard without being completely shafted.

This is a typical French restaurant and you can tell they really value their customers opinion. Alexis Gauthier and his team have got the model spot on.

We were most excited about the Truffle Risotto which they are renowned for and it lived up to expectations. There was also a fantastic duck dish, a scallop dish, a trout dish and the really rich chocolate desert! After you have eaten you will certainly need a bed!

Only negative for me is the bread, I feel they could up their game on this aspect. It was also served cold. Most restaurants will serve it warm. It’s these little details that would get them their star!

A very happy couple that will be returning!

What a beautiful restaurant set in an old London house over 3 floors. Intimate and softly decorated. The food was exquisite. I opted to go vegetarian, for no other reason that it looked very appealing. Artichoke hearts to begin with which was an excellent choice. Followed by white asparagus, also divine. Dessert was up to the high standard of fine dining. Very romantic. However, I would say that the numerous waiters tended to hover a little too much for my liking. Attentive - overly.

A very enjoyable experience.

A wonderful place for lunch - a rich menu of truly exquisite fine dining. We enjoyed the deluxe set lunch and found that the wines complimented the dishes perfectly. I would highly recommend the peanut butter eclair!
