London is a large city, there are many hotels to choose from and people will decide based on criteria such as area, * rating etc. Paddington will not suit everyone, but if this is an area you are considering, you could do a lot worse than the Novotel.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Paddington Station (around 5 minutes canalside walk away). However it is even closer to Little Venice, and the whole Paddington Central/basin area is something of an oasis in the middle of the city..Staying at the weekend it was a quiet area - this may not be the case during the week given the number of corporate neighbours, but at least it is an area relatively devoid of traffic. There are a few restaurants in the vicinity, but a choice of underground lines at Paddington makes the West End and other areas easily accessible.

This is a relatively new hotel, so decor and design are still quite fresh. A French lady provided a very efficient and friendly welcome on check-in. The room was far larger than some hotels in a more obvious location nearer the station (e.g. the Mercure sister hotel), with a large screen TV, tea/coffee and most importantly a comfortable bed with choice of pillows.

I was not a fan of the WC being separate from the bathroom, however I can imagine that this may be a more convenient configuration for a family group staying in one room (there was a sofa bed and queen bed in the room). The air con seemed somewhat ineffective, but in the middle of November this was not a major concern.

On a further positive note, the breakfast selection was extensive and of good quality, with some items I have rarely seen on offer (French toast with maple syrup). This was again far suprior to the offerings available from the Mercure 'around the corner', based on our stay 12 months previously. The decor throughout is pleasantly contemporary with a slight continental twist as you'd expect from a French hotel chain.

My rating is only 4* because few if any hotels in London represent value for money in my opinion (when compared to similar hotels in other major European cities), and the room rate would have been beyond my budget had I not part-paid with Club Accorhotels points accrued by virtue of staying at such European hotels.

However, visitors from other countries may well see London as good value for money due to current exchange rates, and for those who would be happy staying in Paddington (the main central London terminus for westbound rail services, including those to Heathrow airport), the Novotel is definitely worthy of consideration.

Thank you very much for your kind review. It is much appreciated and I can assure you that my team will be delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
I was pleased to read that you found the location, the welcome and in particular the breakfast to be very good. (The French toast and maple syrup is one of my personal favourites).
I look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.

Located discretely in the Paddington Central office area, the hotel is a welcome retreat from the history and bustle of Paddington which is just next door. Very easy for connections to London and to Heathrow . There are restaurants and a Starbucks and sainsbury close by, and very easy access to Little Venice and the lovely Rembrandt gardens. Hotel itself was modern and efficient and the room a good size for London standards , with an indoor pool and mini gym in house. The buffet breakfast was great , off the big beyond the cooked English breakfast fare with options like guacamole and an assortment of diff rent smoothies . WiFi worked well and was free.

Normally staying at JW Marriott when in London for business but this time the hotel was full, so tried Novotel Paddington as I am arriving at Paddington station when coming on the train from Cardiff.

The hotel is nice and in a quiet location altough right next to a main road but windows are very good and absolutley no sound comes in.

Best thing about the hotel are the staff, a truley amazing team and when I checked-in, Sharon, the GM happened to be there and introduced herself and welcomed me.

Will be back for sure, might even drop JW Marriott

Booked this hotel when i wanted to be within walking distance of Paddington Station (where the Heathrow Express stop is).

Pleasantly surprised with the (relatively) inexpensive rates and the quality of the hotel. Location wise this hotel is a bit out of the shopping areas but it makes up for this by being just 5 min walk from Paddington Tube and railway stations. There are a few shops at the station anyway. Don’t worry when you first find your way there- it’s in between a bunch of Silicon-Valley type office buildings. There’s also a group of restaurants outside which caters to the office lunch crowds.

Inside, the hotel has a contemporary design, is clean and has free wi-fi. (yay!) Th rooms are quite big by London standards, and well equipped, including a neat iphone docking station and speaker. Best of all this hotel has a gym and a pool. Though rather tiny, the pool is a great amenity for the end of a tiring day.

For a small fee you can add breakfast. Though a bit overrun with families, the selection at breakfast is wide. (could improve on the coffee though).

Service is efficient and check-in/checkout was a breeze.

i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a no-nonsense but well equipped hotel that offers great value in a convenient but quiet location.
