“Who knew?”

Liverpool's Old Dock Tour

Who knew that the original muddy pool that Liverpool was named after still lies beneath Liverpool One? Who knew the significance of the layout, fountains, paving tiles in Liverpool One? Who knew of the secret passageway from the original dock to Liverpool Castle? Who knew that building of the dock in 1710 explains why Dale Street still floods in heavy rain? I now know so much more about my hometown thanks to the informative, engaging and witty guides (Danny and John) who delivered the tour with a passion that draws you in. If you live in Liverpool and have not done this tour, then you must!

We found this tour almost by accident and managed to get the last two places, and what a brilliant tour it is, a great insight into how Liverpool became the city it is today. The two guides were clearly passionate about sharing their knowledge, and to go under Liverpool 1 and see where it all began was a real eye-opener. I'd recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.

We went as part of a small group and this disappoint. The tour guides Danny and John were brilliant they were very informative, friendly and helpful. The tour incorporates a lot more then just the old dock. If you are in Liverpool you NEED to do this tour!

We went to the museum planning to spend an hour or 2 there, and on arrival were told about this free tour to the hidden, underground excavation of the 300 year old dock, discovered when they started digging to develop the Liverpool 1 shopping centre .
So we did that instead! It was really interesting and the tour guides Danny and John were knowledgeable and entertaining. Well worth the visit.
