The hotel was very nice, well situated and easy accessible. The staff were so accommodating to my wife and I along with our dog Nicki... they couldn’t have done anymore to make our stay special and go without a hitch. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast menu was very good and service was so friendly and on point... plenty of onsite parking and the room was well appointed and had everything we needed... we will certainly go back...

If you want a pleasantly located Hotel, with friendly staff & great food, then look no further. We stayed 12/12/20.
Myself, my partner & another couple stayed here for 1 night on a D,B&B basis. We found the food to be of Michelin Star Quality and well worth the amount we paid whilst booking the room, as nothing on the menu incurred an extra charge.
The bedrooms were lovely and spacious with a selection of amenities, including a coffee machine. We were woken in the night due to a Wedding, but these things happen and it wasn’t the hotels fault.
Breakfast was of the same standard as dinner, great.
This Hotel will be our go-to from now on :) looking forward to returning with Family & friends alike.
What an amazingly welcoming hotel. We were upgraded to a garden room which was perfect for our dog who had access to the gardens. The room was just stunning. Lovely towels. Local toiletries and tea/coffee. The evening meal was presented to a great standard which homemade fresh bread as we were seated. In the morning our dog even got his own cooked breakfast. One minor suggestions. A dogs menu for the evening as other places are starting to do. We will definitely be back.
We visited Briery Wood in July 19 to look around prior to booking our wedding and we fell in love with it straight away.
From that point on, communication with the hotel was on point and liaising with Lisa, Roger and Tracey made our queries and requirements simple.
Originally we booked the 'Just Us' 2 night wedding package and 2 months beforehand we decided to invite our parents then unfortunately due to illness my husbands parents had to cancel and the hotel were so understanding.
We arrived the day before the wedding and Dan made us all feel so welcome. He sat down with us to run through the finer details in readiness for our big day including the menu for our afternoon tea, when we wanted our complimentary bottle of Prosecco and he kept us topped up with gin!
On our wedding day we could've had breakfast in bed but we wanted to have breakfast with my mother in the main dining room.
A private room was made available for our use for the entirety of the day and if the weather was bad this is where the ceremony would have taken place but we were lucky to have stunning weather for October and had the ceremony in the gazebo in the beautiful gardens. Roger and Dan were great, so attentive and nothing was too much for them. Stevie also went the extra mile to make our day special. Such lovely people.
One thing you will never do is leave Briery Wood hungry and the food was amazing, some of the best we've ever tasted and that is down to the fabulous chefs. There was plenty of choice at breakfast including a freshly cooked full English which was tasty. We had afternoon tea on our wedding afternoon and there was so much we had it put in boxes to takeaway the next day! Evening meal was so de-li-cious my taste buds are tingly now thinking about all the delights and we were certainly stuffed by the end of our stay!
If we could give this hotel and amazing friendly staff 10 stars, we would.
We will definitely be returning next year for our 1st wedding anniversary and we truly can't wait.

As you can imagine, it has certainly been a strange year as far as weddings are concerned, but we haven't let that stop us celebrating these special moments with the brides and grooms who choose us for this special moment in their lives. our Just Us wedding package is perfect for the present climate, allowing small parties such as yourselves to have Covid compliant weddings, making the day feel totally special for all members of the wedding party.
The hotel is licensed for the ceremony itself with the option of having it in one of our lounges or, weather permitting, out in the landscaped gardens in the purpose built gazebo, which has proved to be an extremely popular venue for the big 'I do' moment.
To make the day extra special, after the wedding, we offer the wedding party a private room for afternoon tea and the evening meal that follows, as well as offer the bride and groom the option of breakfast served to the room in the morning.
We certainly look forward to celebrating your anniversary with you next year and hope we will get to see you on other return visits during your journey through life together.
My Wife and I re-visited with our pet Dog for a mid-week break after going nowhere during the last few months. We were here back in March for a special birthday and like then this visit was perfect. Food was fantastic, staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, Daniel, Stevie, Mathew in fact all the staff deserve the highest praise they were all amazing, helpful and courteous. Room was really clean and finished to an excellent standard. Comfortable bed and spacious clean bathroom. Really nice treats for our Dog too. We will be visiting again shortly!

Many people have found a visit to the Briery Wood to be a perfect tonic after frustrating year of going absolutely nowhere. Even with the extra restrictions imposed on the hotel since your visit in March, we strive to provide the best service and warmest welcome we can to our guests.
As well as our human guests, we also extend a warm welcome to their canine companions recognising them as an important part of any family.
All our staff work together to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, always ready with a friendly word and offer of assistance to ensure our guests can make the most of their stay with us.

We visited for four days walking in the area on a DBB basis. We chose a garden room, which had an exit leading to a small terraced area with a bistro set which we managed to use even in October because it was so sheltered. I had requested a ‘dog free’ room to avoid any smells but was advised that they had none of these, although I was reassured that rooms were always deep cleaned after being used by dogs, and they were true to their word. Our room was spotless, although fairly small.
The hotel itself is kept just as clean throughout, with very efficient and friendly staff across all areas. The food was just fantastic, beautifully presented and wonderfully cooked - we both noted that we rarely even had to season. We like to treat ourselves occasionally to a spot of fine dining and the food in Briery Wood was as good as some Michelin starred restaurants we have visited.
Price of drinks was just what you’d expect, so no surprises there, with a well stocked bar offering a good range including a decent selection of gins and malt whiskies. They have a very decent wine list offering something for most tastes and budgets.
All in all, a great, friendly hotel and we’ll definitely be back.

I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your time spent with us. The Lake District is certainly a wonderful place to visit for walkers with so many walks around ranging from gentle strolls to full on mountain hikes.
Our Garden rooms are very popular, offering direct access to our landscaped gardens which are tended by our dedicated grounds team.
We pride ourselves on being a dog friendly hotel, welcoming our four legged friends but recognise the importance of a deep clean to ensure that the rooms are suitable for non dog owners, and people with allergies, and our housekeeping team do a fantastic job of keeping the hotel immaculate.
We are proud of the 2 rosettes we have been awarded by the AA for the excellence of our food, and the positive feedback we get from guests such as yourselves reflects this.
We have a well stocked bar, with the recent surge in the gin market inspiring us to have a range of about 60 different gins for our guests to choose from, as well stocking a range of whiskies from around Scotland and around the world, including a single malt made right here in the Lake District.
