Review of Penrith Castle

Penrith Castle
Ranked #10 of 59 things to do in Penrith
Attraction details
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We went to Penrith primarily to do a bit of shopping and decided to visit the Castle ruins. The ruins are managed by English Heritage and there is no charge for access. We walked down from the car park we used to shop. There isn't a lot of information on site but the site is worth a visit. The castle is next to a park with a bandstand and other facilities. The castle is outside of the Penrith Train Station. Nothing to loose if you are passing through.

Penrith Castle is opposite the train station and to the west of the town centre. The site is well maintained by the local council and is ideal for walks and children to play. There's a café to sit and enjoy watching those who like to play tennis or bowling. Lovely location, we like to visit; when we travel to Penrith for shopping.

Only a small attraction, but still interesting.
Information boards give you a good feel for what the layout used to be, with the help of the remains.
