Owner description: Dating from about 3000 BC, this is one of the first stone circles built in Britain, which is perched atop a high moor with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

No entrance fee as this is in a field with sheep running around it. Not very spectacular, but the view from this location is. (We were there when the sun was shining). Another example of stone circles with no apparent reason for them. I couldn't discern any relation to cardinal points or potential summer or winter solstice. (I'm certainly not an expert in this area)

Side of the road parking, which requires better signs.
Free to park and enter.
At the 3 gates are information boards (do read them!), then a short walk across the grass to the circle, to take your mind to the accent past.
Fantastic and breathtaking views, of the area.

I've never been New Zealand but I can imagine the views that were here were very close! Absolutely spectacular views on a clear day, we were fortunate to visit on probably the sunniest bank holiday known in England. We walked from nearby Threlkheld which took around 40 minutes.

This is a beautiful place to visit. It is surrounded by the Pennines and the views are spectacular. The Stone Circle holds a positive energy and we loved spending time there, and so did our Bassett Hound! A perfect place to bring a picnic and enjoy just being!
