Great pub food. Great service. Good atmosphere.

This does get very very busy if an evening but we were there from 430pm so no issues for us.

Camambert starter to share was a great starter. Loads of bread great cheese.

2 mixed grills as mains. Good quality meats, Very healthy portion sizes.

Highly recommended

Thank Andy T

This pub can get extremely busy so booking your table is important for evening meals. However, great food and great service.

After a day of walking in the lakes me and my partner fancied pub food rather than a pricier restaurant. We both ordered burgers and sweet potato fries, hers chicken and mine beef and both with camembert and onion chutney as extras. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Bit of a wait time for the table (20 minutes) but it was a bank holiday weekend and we hadn’t booked. Overall very good value for money.

Went for dinner with my wife and baby. The place is nice, good atmosphere and friendly staff. It was fairly busy (bank holiday) but food arrived quite promptly, no long waits.

The bit that wasn't great was the food itself. We had the soup and nachos as starters. Soup was good (tomato and basil). The nachos were cold and slightly stale. The nachos were piled in a bowl then just one big blob of salsa, guacamole and soured cream on top. Very little cheese.

For mains we ordered burgers. They weren't great. The bun was one of those cheap, white ones that falls apart. The burger itself didn't seem very good quality and was really overcooked (in my opinion). Also, the cheese on mine was just pre-sliced from a packet put on top but not melted under the grill or anything. Chips were good though.

Worth saying that the food was very reasonably priced. We ordered off the set menu so that, plus an under 7's meal, a bitter shandy and a glass of Malbec came to about £37.

First time I've eaten there, just felt like there wasn't much love for the food being sent out.

Have been coming here for 50 years and never tire of its magnificence. Called in to the White Lion as we often do for an evening meal. Got a table pretty soon but long wait (nearly an hour) due to it being very busy but it is understandable.

My wife ordered rump steak which must of been cut from an anorexic beast as it was the thinnest steak we'd ever seen! Asked for it medium, arrived burnt and would have soled her shoe. Also luke warm with the rest of the meal. I ordered Cod, was told no Cod but it would be Pollock, okay I says. When it arrived, it had transformed into a battered sardine and was just warm to boot. Oh well, maybe just a bad day?
