Myself, Mum and Sis had enjoyed a lovely cultural morning in the City and were in need of something to fill a little gap in our tummies and a hot drink to warm us up. Being around Holy Trinity Church we went in one place and they only provided big meals so we came out and saw Simples with their A-Board outside saying 'Toasted Teacakes', well, that was all it took for us three!
We entered and was welcomed so warmly by the two gents behind the counter. We sat down at a table and headed over to the counter to place our order of three Hot Chocolates and three Toasted Tea-Cakes (less than £10 for all three of us!). The Hot Chocolates arrived first and, to say they were 'regular' ones, they were quite big so very pleased. For me, when I've had Hot Chocolate from a Cafe in the past, all it tasted of was hot water - not here, it was quite clearly Chocolate - it was lovely! None of this cream and marshmallow business either - just a nice plain Hot Chocolate, exactly what was asked :D
Now, the Toasted Teacakes! Blimey, the best way to eat a Toasted Tea-Cake is when you bite into it and the hot butter runs down your chin haha and these boys got it to a tee!
My only complaint was that the place was far too comfy for a quick visit - I got sat on a chair, with my back against the wall, looking out towards Holy Trinity and the newly refurbished square watching the world go by I could have stayed there all day.
Will be back soon boys!! Hoping it continues to thrive - good luck!
