We have eaten here several times in the last month or so, both in the evening and at lunch. On each and every occasion the quality of the food has been very good, with the odd dish such as the fresh asparagus (while it is in season) and hollandaise sauce being outstanding.
On the whole the service is good, friendly and prompt, although for our evening meal on 31/5 the service was somewhat slow (over 15 minutes before drinks arrived and over 45 minutes for our first course).
The Set Menu (two courses for £10.95 or three for £12.95) is generally tempting and pretty good value, but it is only available until 7.00 p.m. The main menu has a wide range of dishes to suit all tastes. The house wine red and white ('Lagarde') is very acceptable. A typical two course evening meal for two from the main menu including a bottle of wine and mineral water will be about £60+.
As before, two quibbles are the noise levels and the 12.5% tip added (although, rightly, you are warned about this and can decline to pay so much).
Do not go without a booking, especially in the evening.
As far as we are aware, this restaurant is by far and away the best in the area and we now regard this a 'local' for us while we are in Cheltenham..
