We have been here a few times now for Sunday lunch and are never dissapointed. It can get busy so make sure to book. Most families seem to go around 1220 to 1300 so we usually go around 1530 or so when it's quieter and generally less kids running around. All meats are excellent but don't forget to ask for some extra gravy as these places never put enough on the plate.

Service is not the fastest but it give some time to enjoy the nice ales available.

We came here on a Sunday of a Bank Holiday weekend. My daughter in law rang to book on the Wednesday and the only available time was 12.00. This is normally earlier than I would book but as a late booking it was OK. The meal was very good. A varied Sunday lunch menu is offered... gammon, slow roasted lamb and a rare beef among the options. I was even tempted by the vegetarian option! I chose the beef, as did my son. My D-in L chose the gammon and my husband the lamb. All were thoroughly enjoyed. Vegetables were very good, cooked just right for our palates. The starter menu was good, although we all opted to have a dessert and I can highly recommend the " chocolate box". Delicious! All together, 4 meals and drinks came to £60 great\t value. The service was very good with attentive waitresses.

Went with my son and grandson for a Sunday lunch. And enjoyed it so much decided to book for my Mums 93rd birthday the following week.Although we hadn't mentioned when booking that it was for someones birthday they gave her a lovely card and put a sparkler in her ice cream both of which made her feel very special. The service was excellent even though it was very busy we weren't rushed or kept waiting. I felt we actually had better service than when we went on the Sunday and it was even busier than at the weekend.

We stopped by on the off chance. Turned out they were extremely busy for a Monday night but offered to serve us as soon as a table came free. They couldn't do enough for us. Just the right level of friendliness without gushing....felt real & honest. Would definitely recommend !
For fun, ask for a naughty latte and see what you get.....I think we could start this as a trend ;-)
We'll book next time and we recommend you do too.

My husband & I stopped at The House in the Tree one teatime earlier in the year and were so impressed by the food and service that it has become one of our favourite places to eat. Good quality food without being too fussy. The quality of the meat is superb. I'm sure they have become so popular because, like us, they are attracting return customers, especially for their Sunday roasts.
Like John B , I was cross to read the comments made by Maddie E. The lady who I think of as being is charge has always been very friendly and accommodating. The whole point of bookings is to ensure a good timely service for all. Whilst I'm sure they may be used to people being a few minutes late, in my eyes more than fifteen minutes late is unacceptable. As for children not sitting, it was never a problem for mine to be properly seated for a meal whilst out. Good for her for considering her other guests and saying something. I'm sure most other guests would agree.
