Owner description: Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

Fantastic visit for family of 4 with 10&12yr olds. Started with great coffee and pastries in the cafe (dogs welcome) then a dog walk along Bishops Walk (helpful staff gave us a leaflet & directions. Upon returning we were booked onto the next available tour, brilliant. Elliott our guide was fantastic, entertaining for both young & old. Captivated our kids with facts & demonstrations. Extremely informative. Finished off with lunch back in the cafe, great food, great portions, quick service. Couldn’t fault. Would highly recommend.

I last visited here oh, 30 yrs ago however I appreciated it more this time. We went on the evening ghost tour and it made it much more fun for all of us both for entertainment and the history. No matter the temperature outside it's very cool and fresh on the inside and maybe you should take a light jacket. These are prehistoric caves and go back hundreds of years. Well worth a visit. Again not inexpensive but still worth it.

Visited for the first time in many years. Very informative and interesting guided tour in the amazing caves. No good if claustrophobic or don’t like the dark.

We found this by following tourist signs on a recent visit to Torquay. It is a lovely and interesting set of caves. Our tour guide was friendly, interesting and well informed. Well worth a visit.
