Owner description: This brooding 13th-century castle sits on the rugged and spectacular Atlantic coast in Cornwall, which recalls the myth and mystery associated with King Arthur and Merlin the magician. New exhibition explores the stories linking Tintagel to King Arthur which includes a 3D model of the site illustrating how it has changed over the centuries. Dog friendly and child friendly, this is a great day out for all the family.

During my recent break to Cornwall i was advised to make the effort to visit Tintagel Castle which we did. Just imagine my disappointment to find it closed. We could not get near it and apparently the steps leading down to the beach area were also closed. I doubt i will make the effort again in the future.

Great place for a bit of fresh air and outdoors exercise. It's not too expensive, access is good enough, and you can get to Tintagel for some fresh pasties and other delicacies.

Took the family to explore a little bit of history. Loved the climb and the views were incredible. Just enough information scattered throughout the site to learn the basic history of the site. Would not recommend prams or buggies as it is a steep and at times, narrow hike.

The castle is a island off the mainland you can reach with a short walk across a small wooden bridge and then up some steep steps carved onto the rock .Fantastic views of the top looking across the coast line or out to sea well worth a visit .

Said to be the location where King Arthur was conceived, the site of this medieval castle ruins is great for Walking, exploring and taking in the amazing scenery including waterfalls, cliffs and caves. Equipped with a shop and cafe on site, a real day can be made of it, stopping for a bite to eat and purchasing a memoir. Unfortunately there isn’t any parking at the castle but there is in the town, although these are pretty pricey. The town of Tintagel however, is fantastic too with lots of little shops and has a real ‘seaside village’ feel. Be warned, there are lots of steep, uneven steps to climb which is well worth it for the view but the process is not for the faint hearted!
