I have now been staying at the Greenbank regularly for about two years and it keeps on getting better and better. As a single female traveller it is always good to find somewhere that feels safe and is professionally friendly. The staff are all, every single one, delightful. The staff in the pub are excellent, they don't ignore a woman of a certain age, like in some establishments; the fabulous reception staff are efficient and as you get to know them they are simply hilarious and delightful. Breakfast staff are non intrusive and efficient. There was a new member of staff on my last but one visit, lovely chap, I was astounded when he remembered me four weeks later, especially during the busy season when they probably serve hundreds of breakfasts a week.
The rooms and bathrooms are all gradually being updated, the new bathrooms are gorgeous. I have only once found a single bed in a single room, I usually find a beautifully presented double, The massive job of recarpeting the corridors is is coming on apace. Spotless, bathrobes, leaf tea from Cornwall (!), love this hotel. A harbour view room is lovely, but there are such good views from the public areas that you can always enjoy it in comfort with a drink or meal if you have a room without a harbour view. The road isn't noisy, virtually silent in the winter.
The utter joy of the Greenbank is the view from the restaurant and bar. Whatever the weather the view is sensational, oh, and the little vouchers that surprise you as a returning guest, complementary champagne, heaven. I have absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else for as long as I visit Cornwall for work, or pleasure come to that.
