would recommend if you want a very basic get back to nature break.
facilities basic but there, although none of us wanted to use the showers.could do with more than 2 ladies toilets as a queue in the morning, although with one men's toilet they had a longer wait.
owners friendly and helpful.

Fancy a bit of back to basics camping without WiFi and club rooms? This is perfect for a relaxed peaceful few days. Always hot water available, but prepare to queue at busier times.
Be aware it's a working farm with cattle, pigs and free roaming sheep; all the smells and noises associated, especially the pigs.
We only had one issue...see negative review above...We were awoken at 4am by a group of campers shouting and barking down the valley, obviously oblivious to how far their noise carried (We were as far from them as was possible) Owners took a firm stand and fair play to them. Lovely couple run the site. Helpful and friendly. Grizedale is exactly what it says it is; a quiet rural relaxed site with limited facilities. Perfect 😊

Stayed in one of the pods at the top of the hill in the forest for the weekend.. couldnt recommend it enough. The Pods are well kept and in alot quieter area than the main campsite.. perfect for a small family or couple. trails lead off into the forest directly up behind the pods also.. The fact you can have a fire out front too is great for sitting around at night. Will def be back!

We stopped in the bunk barn in a group of 8 and loved it. Great campsite, very basic but the showers were hot and basic facilities were there. Barn was good but more suited to 6 than 8! Kids loved it especially the farm animals and the fact you could gave a proper campfire. Would recommend for those wanting a quieter more rustic site

Booked for two nights with my family and friends. 5 adults and two children aged 6 and 9. Friends have stayed here before and had a nice time. We arrived on the Friday and had fun playing games with the children in the field. In the evening we sat around the campfire, had a bbq and several drinks. All was good, with a little sing song and guitar playing. As the night went on, our ‘neighbours’ asked us to keep the noise down as there children were going to bed. We had lost track of time a little so didn’t think this was an unreasonable request. So the guitar was put away and singing stopped. We apologised to them and kept the noise down. We weren’t ready for calling it a night though so we carried on chatting around the camp fire. The following morning we had breakfast and continued playing games with the children in the field. The owner pulled one of my friends to the side when he went to the toilet and informed him that a few people had complained about the noise that came from us the previous night. Apologies were made and reassurance that noise would be kept down given. Although we were surprised about the complaints we were led to believe that apologises were accepted and all was good. We continued playing and having fun for the next 6 hours. Before the owner came up to us and told us to pack our things up and leave immediately. We were all shocked at being told this as our behaviour the previous night certainly did not warrant these actions. Yes we sat around the camp fire chatting until the early hours but what is wrong with that? We weren’t causing any harm to anyone. Unfortunately our ‘neighbours’ who were made up of several families hadn’t realised that tents aren’t sound proof and the owner insisted we leave. So to wrap up the review. If your a family who will be tucked up in bed by 10pm then it’s a lovely place to stay. But if you want to sit around the campfire of a night and have fun then best to avoid this place. Facilities are basic, but has what you need for camping. Toilets do need some attention as the smell of urine leading up to the toilet is quite unpleasant. The owners atitude and customer service is very much something to be desired! We won’t be returning that’s for sure.

Thanks for your review.
It’s was myself that initially spoke with you/your friend on Saturday morning regarding a few complains we had. I was most polite, informed you we had a few complains from campers and that we wouldnt expect a repeat! You left happy and I was super relaxed about it. Our campers had complained of noise until after 4am- when I spoke with you, you had agreed this was the case and it wouldnt happen again.
However, as the day progressed we had 7 families from our local village get in touch- 4 families who actually came down to the farm to question the terrible noise and ignorance they had heard and witnessed from our camp site. This noise, as we have previously discussed and agreed, was you guys. The noise was not usual nosie from a friendly gathering around a fire. It was shouting, rude, drunken and ignorant. There is a very clear difference from usual campsite noise. For the noise to be heard in the village- not only does it mean that it was obviously more than your average campfire party- but it means it puts our rural business at risk. You may turn up for the weekend, feel it is suitable to behave however you wish and upset whoever you like with your ignorance- however, we have to live here, keep peace with our neighbours and be respectful of our surroundings. So this was in fact the reason you were asked to leave- and rightly so. It was my partner that spoke with you and while is approach is direct- it would never have been anything but polite and non threatening- asking you guys to leave was the only option with so many complaints.
Our campsite prides itself on being relaxed- no noisy rules, camp fire allowed, group booking and parties accepted... But for this to work, our campers have to respect their fellow campers around them, appreciate the surroundings they have chose to be in, and act accordingly. Your group didn’t.
