We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Anantara. The hotel is stunning - lots of natural wood, infinity pools, every detail is thought out. The staff are incredibly warm and helpful. The food is excellent. Can't say enough. Tranquil, fun, like paradise!

we spent 2 weeks in the local villages with locals, and got a bit worn out by the simplicity there, so finally we decided to finish our trip in this luxury resort to wash and relax. the food there is excellent, they hire some locals to cook some local rice and meat specialities made in bamboo stems and using local herbs

We arrived early (around 10:30) after being picked up from the airport, a LONG ride away. Obviously our room wasn't ready, so the staff suggested we go and kill some time in the botanical gardens next door. We were aware that the price of the room included free entry to the gardens, and we took the slip of paper given to us to the gardens. When we got there, the paper was taken from us at the gate. Knowing this wasn't our actual visit, we confirmed that we would still be able to get in for free as per the deal with the hotel, and they confirmed that the hotel would give us another slip of paper.

We later discovered that the hotel wasn't prepared to give us a second entry slip, and we'd effectively wasted our only free entry (we only planned to walk around for a short while until our room was ready. What ensued was a lengthy and somewhat angry conversation in Chinese with the staff in a fight to get a second entry ticket, seeing as we were effectively told we had to go there to kill time; it wasn't our planned visit. We eventually got a second ticket, but not without struggle.

The room was absolutely stunning, I have to say. Extremely spacious and comfortable, and the whole complex was peaceful and serene (this was Chinese New Year, so we were expecting some crowd noise). Service staff were very friendly. The main issue was with the staff in the main lobby. We didn't really feel convinced that they wanted to help; something just didn't seem right.

Food was extremely overpriced (788RMB for hotpot!!) and not really up to our expectation. Sadly, there's no other choice, as anywhere else is too far from the hotel!

So, in summary: the rooms are beautiful and well-equipped, the service staff are very nice, just don't expect much from the main lobby staff, and make sure you bring a lot of money to cover eating expenses.

Oh, and the botanical gardens were a major disappointment.

We picked this hotel, because it is well-known resort hotel and located in the middle of Skytree rainforest park and Jingling city, and most importantly, nearby the tropical botanical garden of Chinese Academy of Science. If you rented a car nearby the airport of Jingling city, you would drive one and half an hour from Jingling city to the hotel and get some rest and next day go to the Skytree rainforest park within two hours from the hotel.
The hotel staff are friendly. The rooms are very large and full of thai style furniture and decorations. Everything is perfect, except the pillow problem is occurred. I find that pillows were not very comfortable for my neck. One was too high and hard, and the other one too soft. I asked the staff to change some suitable pillows, and the result is not satisfied. The staff show us some pillow samples, actually very mini ones in a small basket, and we find that the sample pillows are not exactly as same as the real pillow. Mini sample pillows are the same shape and size, but the shape and size of real pillows are varied. We totally confused.
Otherwise, the hotel garden is very suitable for running. We ran every morning and then used the gym. The breakfast is excellent as we expected. The taste of the food is a mixture of Thai food and Yunnan food.
Anyway,highly recommend it.

This is indeed a luxurious resort hotel in Xishangbana. It is a bit far from the airport as well as the city centre of Jinghong. The environment is really nice and full of green plantationa. The structures are nicely- built and the whole resort is spacious. The outdoor swimming pool is clean and facing the river while the spas are really great for the ladies. Breakfast starts very early with good choices from Asian to European choices. You must try the local "Suen Wai" ham which is really excellent. There are not much other restaurant choices nearby and you have to stay and eat in the restaurants inside the resort. The resort is very near to the Tropical Botanic Garden which is a 5A tourist spot that is highly recommended to visitors. Overall the staff services here are very good and the rooms are large and clean. Nonetheless, we found it a bit dark both in the great reception lobby as we arrived late in the evening as well as inside the rooms. If you plan to stay in this resort, better allow more time here to relax and use the facilities provided, otherwise it would be a waste if you are in a hurry to just stay here overnight.

Room tip: Rooms on upper floor facing the river
