The most beautiful island

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 8, 2016via mobile
The island is beautiful, like what you would see in movies. The experience was nice but must be forewarned it is rustic. The 4X4 picks you up from your hotel (they say between 5-5:30am but ends up being closer to 6:30). You will ride with other passengers going to the islands for a few hours through a bumpy mountain road- they will stop at a grocery store for you to quickly grab essentials (MUST BRING: water bottles, snacks, alcohol, sunblock, bug spray, flashlights or flameless candles). The car ride takes about 3 hrs. Once you arrive at the docks the kuna yala will bring you to the island (a speed boat ride for an hour, you will get wet!). Once you are on the island they will show you the hut, which is clean with private bathroom- running water only during a portion of the day and electricity (one light bulb per room) goes out by 10pm. Night sky there is amazing, can see every star. They cook 3 meals a day for you (lunch and dinner is fresh fish with rice usually, scrambled eggs for breakfast). They will take you to another island once per day, have a few extra snorkel gear if interested in borrowing). Nelson the owner was very welcoming and informative. Overall experience was great, island is beautiful and safe. Just know this isn't a place with AC, constant running water so don't come in with those types of expectations. It's a place to play in the water, lay in a hammock reading a book and to spend quality time with your travel mates.

What at great experience! From the moment we hopped off the Casa Blanco shuttle boat to the return trip it was wonderful. Nelson, our host, was terrific! We went on snorkeling adventures and had wonderful fresh fish meals! The Kuna's are super friendly and very accommodating. Casa Blanco should be on everyone's list of things to do and enjoy in 2016!

Room tip: This is very simple living, on the beach, sound of water at night....

We had a beautiful weather so I dont know how is there when it rains a lot.
Water is clear, food is simple (fishe) but very good. In cabanas there are beds and the toilets (don't know if all of them have a toilet but there are also 'public' toilets as well). You can make a boat trip to other islands which I definitely recommend. And for the rest of the day just enjoy a peace during the day, and an AMAZING sky during the cloudless night.
Of course forget about aircondition, fans or TV.

Me and my guy went in APRIL of 2012 so this is a belated review.

This place allowed us to fall in love. But we had the whole place to ourselves. The food was perfect for being on an island, I felt like it was home cooked and made with love.

Here's what you do if you stay on any island in San Blas, among the Kuna Yala people: First you have to go to the travel agent in Panama and book a place, HIGHLY recommend this island, then before you get in car to get a lift to island pick up, go to the store get a cooler and fill it with some beers to keep you happy for a couple of days (don't forget the wine opener if thats your thing), cans are better to squish and take out with you. Maybe bring your own sheets, but that didn't seem necessary to us. For 100/night/person three meals included with a boat ride to anywhere you please I really don't see it being that pricey. But we live in bay area, so yeah

When we stayed there was no electricity so get ready to UNPLUG people. Do not expect a resort feel, but just listening to waves crashing you to sleep and the simple life. We spent half the day trying to ride on a cayuco like the little kids do, it was very entertaining.

I should also mention that my husband is a native spanish speaker who lived in Panama for a while so it was very smooth and clear communication to the people. We were respectful to their land and polite, we even took some phone numbers to book with them directly next time!

We spent 3 dates and 2 nights in coco blanco. I have one word to say -wow!!! We are a family with 2 children ages 7;10. We enjoyed every moment. Our host mr. Alonso did his best to keep us happy. The rooms are Coleen and the hole cabana area is kept clean, we were served 3 meals but also brought things for the kids like milk and cornflakes san some snacks. We were slowed to keep our milk on the restaurants ice. Every day we went on a boat ride to see the islands around ( Chichime, pero big and small...) some islands u have to pay an extra2-3$ to enter. For the boat tours u must take sunscreen and water and many something to eat because we left at 11am an retuned for lunch at 15:00am. If u are traveling with kids bring lots of card games and books. The hole islands are very very basic so it's not for every one . Don't expect much. In coco blanco the cabanas have their one toilet and shower which is a benefit. We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the great wether as well as the sound of the waves.

It was a big adventure to visit the small San Blas Island. The hut was in a poor condition and no water functioning. We were given fish every lunch and dinner for three days, which was OK, but the breakfast was poor. The trip to other small islands great and in particular to stay in the pool in the sea. The owner and the staff could be more nice and available. We asked for coffee and other times we wanted to buy a beer, but they never responded to our wishes. It's very expensive to stay there, as we paid 110 USD/person/day to a tour agent in Panama. The boat trip also an adventure, as we became wet. I am happy we took bottles of water with us.
