A superb coastal promenade walk stretches from Alcala, small harbour town along the coast with only a short interruption to Cueva del polvo (5kms) suitable for kids, skates, skate boards bikes and even wheel chairs (up to beyond halfway) designed in from the start.
Just past the palatial Gran Melia Palacio d'Isora- which has its own direct access, is Playa La Jaquita, a black sandy beach in it's own little bay.
The beach itself is immaculate and traversed by wide boardwalks. A hoist with inflatable sides allows the wheelchair bound access to the sea.
Lifeguards (two or three) were in evidence from an SOS station -so safety paramount here. A toilet block puts anything in UK to shame.
There is a well stocked beach bar run by the nearby 5-star Gran Melia hotel with all the usual drinks ,snacks and ices.
Surrounding the beach are numerous rock pools and very unusual large shallow sea area limited by a vertical pole boundary allows super safe sea swimming.
All in all a fantastic facility!
