Lovely setting especially on a wind free evening, so we sat out side on the patio. Friendly waiters showed us to a table for 4. Then the 1st surprise as the wine we had taken was not allowed !!! Luckily the wine list had Springfield "Life from stone". I ordered the mussels in Saki, shallots, garlic & chilli scallions soup. Very generous portion, but we had to wait for spoons to be provided. just prior to its arrival we received 2 slices of a startlingly unappetising bread. My wife went for the sea bass in a Yuzi Miso sauce, lotus root & pickled ginger. The fish was superb the sauce quite good but the ginger was totally inappropriate & would have overpowered everything !
The rainbow trout with charred leeks, yuzu Hollandaise sauce. Again the fish & sauce out of this world, the leeks should have been BABY ones not these tough old boys.
The bill came to just under R1000 ! So take a rich friend to foot the account.
