Our stay at Sanctuary was the best. First, the staff is beyond friendly. You are treated as family immediately. Everyone remembers your name within a day. The grounds are immaculate. The room was paradise!! We had a Villa with private pool. The pools were spotless. There was plenty of food to choose from. The restaurants also prepared special meals ( not on the menu) for the vegetarian that was with us. The drinks were top notch, including fresh coconuts with rum. Shout out to Carlos and Gilbert. I would like to thank the wonderful staff at the restaurants..Cairo, Sandro, Wander, Niersin, Ana, Conan, Ginette. Without a doubt I am forgetting some incredible people. Our butler was Eric. I could write a separate review just on him. He went beyond expectations to make this vacation relaxing!!! He was always around to provide whatever we needed. I will address COVID. The staff always wore masks. Hand sanitizer was plentiful. We had our test done right at the hotel for return to the US. It was done by a Doctor and was free. It took 10 minutes. No issues with social distance. We are already planning our return!!!

We had the best time at Sanctuary Cap Cana! We stayed for 1 week for our honeymoon. This was our first time in the Dominican Republic. The resort itself is excellent and all the staff are absolutely wonderful! The food was great, we really enjoyed the Steakhouse, and always had the best hostess, Conan. All the servers at each restaurant and the buffet were top notch and beyond accommodating. The entertainment staff, Gasolina, Miguel (Chocolatte), and Juan were so fun and always made sure we were having the best time! We also loved our experience at the Spa and would recommend their services, especially massage. We highly recommend this resort, even during times of COVID, it is apparent that the resort has taken every precaution to ensure guests and staff are safe. We hope to be back in the future!

We stayed at Sanctuary Jan 27 - Feb 2 2021 with a group. We have been to the DR a couple of times but this was our first time to this resort and it was fantastic! The property has so much charm when you pull in and when you actually get into the buildings and on the ocean side it is stunning. Everyone is very warm and friendly upon arrival and during our stay.

ROOM: We stayed in the Castle Ocean Front room. I will say that this was one of the quiets resorts we have stayed at as far as guest noise. The rooms are pretty sound proof in the Castle. Now for the views; the view from our private bridge was amazing. You could walk right out to the grass and the oceans edge. We sat outside on our patio and at the oceans edge often. One other added benefit to the Castle Ocean Front rooms, it come with comes with a Butler. We had the pleasure of working with ERIC (Juan Eric). Anything we needed we could just send him message and it was taken care of. Every day he would let us know where dinning was for the evening and any important info. He was fantastic!!

POOL/ENTERTAINMENT: Sadly the resort was still at limited capacity due to COVID so there entertainment had been modified to prevent crowding but they still did a great job. There were daily activities at the pool (also had evening entertainment) and the entertainment team came around everyday to let us know what was happening and where. FIDO, CHOCOLATTE, GASOLINA, & HAPPY were the crew we had at the pool. They were a lot of fun. Always happy and energetic. We were there for our friends 40th Birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special for her. I hope to see them on our next trip there. We had great service at the pool bar as well. I will suggest bringing your own cup unless you like to change your drinks up a lot. CAROLOS, REYANA & CAROLS ROSARIO were the pool staff and they were all over it. Service was very fast & drinks were good. Carlos was good at making random drinks and shots too. Most evenings we ended up at Love Bar. We had 2 GREAT bar tenders but Sadly we can't remember their names. The days are long sometimes, LOL. We had a guy & a gal & both were very welcoming and offered great service.

FOOD: This was one of the best resorts for food. We ate at all the restaurants and they were all delicious with great service. The only thing we had trouble with was the times in between the breakfast/lunch, lunch/dinner, & after hours when there isn't any place to get snacks. We recommend to the resort they offer a 24hr place to get quick snacks.

COVID: This was our 3rd trip out of the country since December. 2 different spots in Mexico and then Cap Cana, and Sanctuary, like the other resorts in Mexico, are taking covid very seriously and had all protocols in place if that is a concern for anyone. It felt very safe and probably more spread out with the limited capacity.

COVID TESTING: The resort does offer what we would call an "insurance" policy you can pay for up front in the event that you have to quarantine, it was VERY reasonable. It would cover your stay and food for the 14 days for on property quarantine. You would be moved to a different building for the stay and food would be delivered to your door. The resort offer onsite covid antigen testing. All you had to do was make an appointment at the medical clinic. I am not sure if this free onsite testing will be permanent of if it is just because the testing requirement is so new. We were fortunate to have had covid within the 90 days before the trip and didn't have to take the test. All we needed to show was a positive lab result and a letter from our doctor stating when our quarantine was done. The airlines on your return trip will look at that at the airport. Customs did not ask for anything upon our return to the US.
