Batangas Vacation June 2024

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 9, 2025
The Coral Beach Club in Lian, Batangas has a very cool vibe and clean and helpful staff.

Free breakfast is cool. The pool area is excellent. The beach area you cannot really use because of the large amount of rentable rafts that are parked in the front.

There are not many food places outside, but the hotel food was not bad. But we actually tasted the street food vendors beach side and it wasn't bad.

The only issue that I saw is the watersport/activities people haggling beachside and the large amount of rafts at the beachfront. It's an eyesore.

Yes, I know, the infernal noise from countless disco / karaoke places around this hotel and the state of the beach is not their fault, but maybe then can have a word with the noise polluters and ask to stop the music between 10pm and 10am (the disco on the adjoining place starts at 5:30am and did not finish until 11pm :--).

This part of the beach is not appealing:
          - way too crowded
          - you will be constantly harassed by the many vendors
          - they plastered the sea with these ridiculous floats so one can hardly make up the sea anymore
          - the beach is littered with garbage (nobody cleans up?! Or fines the litterers, for what did I pay this "environment fee" (25 / head) --> straight to the corrupt politicians pockets or what?)
          - it's very shallow, no way to swim: even worse at low tide
          - the water seems dirty (sewage?!)

The hotel is quite expensive for what the rooms look like:
          - dated
          - minimal toiletries, not even shampoo is provided
          - bathroom looks very dated
          - the shower was very hard to regulate
          - they add an auto 10% gratuity to whatever you spend: this feels like they are letting the guests pay the employees salaries ...

Room tip: Bring earplugs or active noise canceling headphones if you want to get a chance to fall and stay asleep.

Been going here for 30 years and it’s getting better. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the restaurant food is great and prices are very reasonable.

Try the spring rolls and fried calamari from the restaurant as a snack whilst having a quiet beet looking over the water. Go mid week if you can to avoid the weekend families.

Room tip: The golfer rooms down the back are new and very clean!

For over 30 years our favorite out-of-town place in Batangas 🙂.
Over the years constant improvements in the facilities and the rooms, but still has the same 'old' feeling. Plus seeing again the smiling employees (like Girlie at the reception) , it is like coming home

I stayed here for a four night visit, the rooms are spacious and very clean with most mod cons. The garden area and restaurant are kept well and spotless. The jacuzzi was broken unfortunately. The menu is mostly western based at western prices. I had a seafood fettuccine and I had to search for the seafood through a bed of oily pasta that had a sauce made from fried tomato with no hint of garlic , herbs or anything that makes a Neapolitan sauce, needless to say I stopped at that. Second night the aircon broke and I was moved downstairs with a smaller bed therefore I was disappointed when I was slugged a charge fee when I dropped a cup of tea on the bed sheets. To digress the general area has very little to offer, I get the impression this is a getaway for Manila residents to escape the hustle and bustle, the advertised water activities include a trip to another beach which has a few bamboo huts and a chance to take a photo, the snorkelling advertised is a trip to the nearby reef which is desolated and dead from years of exploitation, the general area reminds me of Cambodia twenty years ago, chronically underdeveloped which in all fairness is no reflection on the resort itself. Last but not least there is a 10 percent surcharge on everything making it a pretty expensive venture. Oversees tourists would benefit going to other seaside destinations that asia has to offer.
