My sister, niece, daughter, and took a last minute trip to this resort. When my sister brought up the idea of going to Matabungkay, I couldn’t help feeling nostalgic about this place. It was after all THE resort to be in my youth.

My family and I stayed at the newly opened water villas, which we were very impressed with. Everything—furniture, amenities, beddings—even tiny details like toiletries—were of good quality.

My toddler loved everything about the villas too; she called it her little house and enjoyed watching the early morning action of the fishermen and fishing boats at sunrise.

Loved the food too. Servings are generous and the dishes are affordable. While waiting for the food, my 2 year old enjoyed playing on the nearby playground, so she was never bored.

Service was also excellent, and staff always served with a smile.

Typically the public inside areas are the most appealing parts of this hotel. Breakfast choices are pretty boring but are ok. Food menu has reasonable choice of different cuisines but pricey compared to nearby eateries. The rooms in the main blocks need refurbishment if they want to claim the 4 stars, in my opinion. They're large enough but a bit tired. Not sure how thorough the bathroom cleaning is.
The hotel got very busy at the weekend and didn't seem exclusively for guests as they hosted what appeared to be a group of non-filipino school kids in the pool who took over completely.
It's a smaller place but I would go to Coral Beach Club if I were to return to this area of Batangas, the rooms are cheaper and look better, and the food menu is generally cheaper but much better quality. Plus only guests can use the pool.
Oh, and lastly San Mig Pale is 109peso at the MBH yet only 75peso at CBC!!

It was a peaceful resort. The room is quite spacious. Though it does smell old because of bamboo materials used, still looked cozy. They had 3 swimming pools, but didn't manage to try as it was crowded during our stay. They have a water villa where you can take some photos but can't come nearer to the villas if you didn't book it. The beach is most of the time low tide, so you must really wait til sunset to have a dip. They offer SPA but too pricey so we didn't try it. It would be much better if they have a small convenience store inside the resort. The foods are pricey too but we got no choice than eat there coz the resort is quite far from establishments. Outside foods are chargeable. Overall, somehow we enjoyed the serenity of the place.

We stayed here on a drizzly weekend - we already booked, weeks before, then the weather changed. It was a good thing that it was just light showers, the wind wasn't all that bad, and the place had a lot of trees to soften the effect of the rain. My children (and grandchildren) were still able to enjoy the swimming pools and the shore.
The staff were accommodating and did what they can despite the weather. The food in the restaurants were as before. It was a good thing that they had putong bungbong and bibingka on a small stall just beside the resto. The buffet breakfast was good especially the kapeng barako and maja mais (which almost always ran out as soon as it's refilled). The hot choco was also very good.

Their website says they’re a 4star, full service hotel. So We decided to spend our family Christmas and booked 2 nights in this hotel. And paid P20,000(for accommodations alone). We went there with expectations of a four star hotel. We were so disappointed when we got there. The photos on their website and on other booking websites are misleading to say the least. First of all, this hotel is very old. The overall aesthetics is very dated, reminiscent of a90’s resort. They badly need a renovation and facility upgrade. Reception area needs better ventilation. A water dispenser in the waiting area/lobby would have been great.
When we got to our room, it smelled old and moldy and dirty. Room security is very poor because they still use door keys which can be easily unlocked. Air conditioning is loud and no remote control. The beds have thin sheets (no duvet covers). the bathroom was filthy and dark. We had to wipe and disinfect the whole room with disinfecting wipes because we had a baby with us. No fire extinguisher inside the room. No safety deposit box. The light bulbs were busted. We had to have them replaced. The room has a den with broken screen windows, we had to call The front desk to repair the window, which by the way never got repaired even upon our check out. We wondered if the room was even inspected/cleaned before we were checked in because there’s so many things that are broken inside the room that we have to inform the front desk to either repair or replace.
We were even more disappointed when we saw The beach. It was....unswimmable since it’s low tide most of the day. The Food was....unremarkable, bland and pricey. They have 3 swimming pool, 2 are old and 1new (the only one we used).
My review may seem too harsh, but we paid a hefty amount for a supposedly “4star resort”. We deserve better for the amount we paid. I’ve stayed in 2star and 3 star resorts that have better facilities and better service than this hotel. Totally not worth traveling to batangas for this.
THIS RESORT BADLY NEEDS A TOTAL REVAMP AND RENOVATION!
