“Average snorkel but fun half day trip ”

The 45min drive along the coast road offers some spectacular viewpoints as well as passes the whale shark village and provide an opportunity to check if they are residence. Unfortunately they have not been seen since early 2016 so don’t get your hopes up too much!

We snorkelled in 2 locations, firstly near the Djinn cave and secondly just off the village. The snorkel near Djinn was disappointing although divers on TA note it’s a great diving spot. Certainly the drop off and the deep wall channel into shore (& the cave) is impressive.

The second spot off the village was fun but largely due to the very large quantity and variety of fish attracted by the local boatmen feeding them.

It was a fun half day but manage expectations on the snorkel!

Famous for snorkling spot, but it is actually way way way better if you go underwater and dive to the Djinn cave spot to see the beautiful coral gardens that shifts into a wall, many and varied sponges and critters that came with all size and shape. Simply beautiful diving experience here.

If you are staying in Gorontallo, you will check this activity and the hour to commute to go to this beach is not worth it

Small town along the beach is full of plastic bottles laying on the ground and other garbage.

If you have teenage girls: this is not a beach to get to on bikini as the surrounding is rather religious and you will have all eyes on you

Snorkeling is fine but coming from Togian islands does not have much upside

Do not plan to walk along the beach either as this is a relatively small beach

I went to Olele Beach on June 28th, 2017. Olele beach is 1-hour away from our hotel (New Melati Hotel) in Gorontalo. We dove 2 times in Olele beach, Jinn Cave dive site. Jinn Cave itself is 5 minutes away from Olele beach. We were using a big "funny" boat that can filled up to 13 people in a boat. I think 1 dive will be enough for Jinn Cave, because somehow there's no difference in between 1st and 2nd dive. It was a wall dive, and the visibility was approximately 7m. The boat was arranged by our dive guide subs, Mas Welly.
Because it was high season (Lebaran holiday), there were so many groups of families. I heard from the locals, Olele beach is good for snorkeling, even for children. Some visitors came from Manado or any other part of Celebes (Sulawesi).

Takes an hour or so from Gorontalo City along winding coastal road . Met a guide at our hotel who recommended a contact to meet us by the Olele fishing village. We took the glass bottom boat out to 2 points along the reef for 250,000 rupiah. Visited area around Jinns Cave. We didn't stay very long to snorkel though but it's very pretty. I didn't see any place to stay around there but I've heard you may do a home stay in the homes of locals.
