Takes an hour or so from Gorontalo City along winding coastal road . Met a guide at our hotel who recommended a contact to meet us by the Olele fishing village. We took the glass bottom boat out to 2 points along the reef for 250,000 rupiah. Visited area around Jinns Cave. We didn't stay very long to snorkel though but it's very pretty. I didn't see any place to stay around there but I've heard you may do a home stay in the homes of locals.

Thank zsuki

Excellent place for snorkeling. The guide (the glass boat operator) will take a underwater photo of you even if you can not dive using a snorkel and makes you "a pro" diver.

The negative point is that there were so many plastic trash everywhere...

The location was about 1 hour by car from Gorontalo city. From the village we use a glass boat. The 1st spot was right in front of the village. If you don't snorkeling you can enjoy the underwater view from the glass. The spot not too big but the view was amazing and there were a lot variety of fish.
The 2nd spot was called Gua Jin (ghost cave), about 10 minutes from the village. It was two walls facing each other that create a kind of cave to the deep sea. On the walls the corals was amazing. You must free dive or diving here to see the best part of the walls.

25 km West of Gorontalo, accessible by a winding road, best by motorbike or car as public transport seems irregular and would drop you a couple of kms from the village- but don't let that put you off.
I had my own snorkelling gear but you can probably find, and I rented a life jacket- which I find useful. Direct access to the reef and not at all far to the drop off.
Good visibility even in the rainy season. Lots of fish who swam much closer to me than at Bunaken. Though it was a little rough this was not a problem and there was no strong current.
On the way you will pass the village frequented by whale sharks ( you can't miss it as there are lots of signs). Unfortunately they were not in residence at the time of my visit, but hopefully they have not left permanently- locals will know.

Olele beach is very nice. Need to drive around 30 min from the city. You will find a winding road, but the view after that is really nice. You can stop by to take picture from the top with view of the beach, sea, boat and people's house. The beach is also nice. You can have snorkling with lots of fish. The local guide also tell us that there are several spots for diving in Olele. Also the one that you cant miss is the sunset. Its very amazing... Must visit in here...
